Louisiana has proven that oil exploration can be done safely. We are not defined by one major mistake, and the time has come for the federal government to allow us to do what we do best. I look forward to seeing Director Angelle take the much-needed steps getting the unnecessary parts of government regulations and burdens out of the way.

The question posed to panelists in a session during the Louisiana Energy Conference in New Orleans was simple: will exploration and production activity in the Gulf of Mexico increase in a $50 oil price environment?


Though this “new normal” the oil and gas industry has adopted doesn’t come without its challenges, responses from the panelists were overall in the affirmative. For starters, the Trump administration has eased up on regulations. Full Article.

As the former secretary of natural resources in his home state of Louisiana, Angelle is no newcomer to the matters of offshore drilling.

In the aftermath of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon accident, it was Angelle who then-Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal chose to go to Washington to negotiate an early end to the Obama's administration's six-month drilling moratorium.
U.S. crude oil production in the federal Gulf of Mexico (GOM) set an annual high of 1.6 million barrels per day (b/d) in 2016, surpassing the previous high set in 2009 by 44,000 b/d.
In January 2017, GOM crude oil production increased for the fourth consecutive month, reaching 1.7 million b/d.
