Webinar focuses on diabetes prevention 
 
More than 84 million Americans have prediabetes, and approximately 30 million are living with the disease, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. To help combat this disease, The Physician Alliance is focusing education initiatives on diabetes prevention.  
 
Diabetes Care Begins with Prevention Webinar
Wednesday, July 11, 2018; 5-6pm 
 
Hosted by The Physician Alliance and the American Medical Association, this webinar will:  
  • Describe the trends in type 2 diabetes and implications for clinical practice
  • Review the evidence that supports referring patients with prediabetes to a lifestyle change program 
  • Discuss key steps that physicians and care teams can take to prevent diabetes
Who should attend: Physicians, care managers, office managers and billers.

Billing requirements change for telehealth
 
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan recently announced that billing requirements for telehealth services changed, effective June 1, 2018. Practices that bill for telehealth services must:

  • Report all telehealth services, including telephone and online visits, with the place of service (POS) 02.
  • Use modifiers GT and 95 only if you're providing telehealth services with live audio and video telecommunication.
If you deliver an audio-only telehealth service, don't use modifier GT or 95. However, you need to bill POS 02 in all situations.

Procedure code:Online visits *99444 and *98969 - do not use modifier GT and 95
Procedure code: Telephone *99441-99443 and *98955-98968 - do not use modifier GT and 95
Procedure code: Professional CPT codes, audio only - do not use modifier GT and 95
Procedure code: Professional CPT codes, audio and visual - USE modifier GT and 95

Telehealth webinar slides available
 
Technical difficulties were experienced at the start of last week's "Implementing Telehealth into Your Practice" webinar hosted by The Physician Alliance and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Due to these difficulties, the webinar was not recorded.
