Happenings at the Resort...February 2017
Greetings from Port Ludlow -
This is what it looks like this morning in Port  Ludlow.  If you have never seen snow at sea level, it's quite something.  To me, it looks like my eyes have been set to some special setting - everything is blue and white!  However, this will not last - and, at the very same time, it feels like the season change is just around the corner.

The heather is blooming, the daffodil bulbs are popping up and we are hearing more birds each morning....all sure signs of SPRING in the Northwest.

SPRING is a favorite time of year for so many reasons - and we will be celebrating with the first cooking class of the year - All About the Egg.
We've listed events and activities for the next several months - one to highlight is our Sunday (Wine) Schools.  If you've ever wanted to dig a little deeper in your knowledge about particular wines or regions, this is for you.  Small classes on Sunday afternoon with tastings and education (thank you, Cellar Master, Julie.)
It seems like today may be a good one, for those of us in the Northwest, to make plans - and as you do, we encourage you to check out the various links below to get a sense of all there is to do in this area ... .it's remarkable, really, how MUCH there is - we hope these will get you thinking about a getaway - whether for a "
staycation" or a romantic getaway or an adventure....as we like to say, "It's All Here."

P.S.  So, today is a SNOW DAY for many of us....please send along your photos of what you are doing in the snow - or, if you are in "other weather" locations - something that makes you WANT to be here will do just fine.  The best ones will be highlighted in the next newsletter - and we will pick the BEST one and offer an overnight stay! (by submitting this photo, it means you agree to this being published).
At the GOLF Course...

Five Reasons Why Playing Golf is Good for your Health...

Exposure to the Outdoors
Being outside provides health benefits for both body and mind. Studies have found that exposure to green areas relaxes the the body and reduces stress.

Burns Calories
Skip the golf cart and get walking! With all the walking, carrying and swinging clubs, golfers can burn up to 1000 calories in a round of golf.

Keeps up your Heart Rate
Walking and carrying and swinging clubs will increase your heart rate while lowering risks for heart disease and decreasing levels of cholesterol.

Good for your Brain
When your heart rate increases so does blood flow to your brain. When competing against your fellow golfers you are also competing against yourself. This type of mental challenge improves confidence and self-esteem in addition to strategy and hand-eye coordination.

Better Sleep
After all the exercise on the greens, your body will appreciate a good night's rest. Golfers tend to fall asleep faster, sleep more deeply, and are able to remain in deep sleep for longer periods of time than non-golfers.

At the MARINA...
The numbers are in and last year 1,753 families visited Port Ludlow by boat. This is a new record for our Marina. We look forward to welcoming even more boating families this upcoming season.

A new seaplane float will be installed at the Marina later this month. We look forward to welcoming guests on the new float - a seaplane adventure is a great way to begin a memorable experience in Port Ludlow.

Our Rendezvous & Yacht Club schedule is filling up! Take a look at our 2017 schedule.
Around the INN...
Everyone has a story.  This month we share with you about our Lead Housekeeper, Jan.  She loves to crochet and recently started making these adorable unicorns....we love the colors and thought you'd enjoy seeing them too. If you'd like to purchase one, please stop by the lobby retail.
For anyone that has ever been in a job where you wear a uniform, it's a pretty important part of your "identity."  We are launching a new uniform program and here's a sneak preview of Anthony.
 At HOME...
Ludlow Cove Cottages has a move-in ready home that will allow you to enjoy Spring in our community.  Isn't this a pretty color?

The Bainbridge (pictured above) is a three bedroom rambler with a single car garage.  This home backs up to the neighborhood park and offers water views as well.

If you haven't toured Ludlow Cove Cottages (or Olympic Terrace II) now is a great time to stop by the Westharbor Homes Sales Office to learn more about Port Ludlow living.

We are also pleased to share that Westharbor Homes was honored at the 2016 Best in American Living Awards

The Townsend floor plan was recognized as a Platinum Winner for Single-Family Home less than 2000 sq. ft. and as Best of the Pacific Northwest region.

We think this is a pretty big deal - and might just make you more inclined to come for a visit...national recognition like this is to be celebrated.  Congratulations to the team at Westharbor Homes.

What People Are Saying...
"I will be back! In this age of chain hotels, restaurants, and standard service, Port Ludlow Resort is a big family house where they invite you into their home as a guest and try to make you comfortable in their home and all the employees are family members with one single goal - to make you comfortable in their home."

"I wanted to reach out and extend a warm thank you and "Well Done" to your entire team at Port Ludlow last week for hosting our Leadership meeting. At every guest touch point, we had a superb experience from check-in to dining to check-out with Gerry. I did not get the check-in woman's first name, but she was outstanding in assisting us in figuring out the "Smart Board" along with the chef. Michael the bartender and Amy our server could not have provided a better guest experience in the dining room. Bottom line, you all get an A+ for outstanding service and experience."

"My wife and I had the best overnight stay we can remember! Even though it was a short stay, it was hands down the most relaxing and enjoyable getaway we've had in years!! We wanted to pass our feelings and heartfelt thanks on to you and your staff for all your courtesies during our stay!"
