New Nordic Michelin Guide confirms Scandinavia as leading culinary destination

Planning a culinary adventure through the scenic Nordic landscapes? Foodies and lovers of avant-garde cuisine will delight in the fine dining options offered by the 56 Michelin-starred restaurants throughout Scandinavia. The recently released  
Nordic Michelin Guide 2017  confirms Scandinavia as a leading culinary destination with the addition of 8 new exciting restaurants to the exclusive club.

Scandinavia records strong increase in visitor numbers from the US in 2016 

All four countries reported a strong increase in bed nights from the US including during the winter months, as travelers came to experience the Northern Lights, hygge, arctic adventures, and Scandinavia's Christmas markets and traditions.

> SWEDEN

Sweden's iconic Icehotel now open year round

Icehotel 365 opened in November 2016, establishing the world famous resort as a year-round permanent ice experience. It will offer visitors long-awaited alternatives such as river boat trips, under the midnight sun.

> NORWAY

New state of the art skylift takes you from fjord to sky in 5

The Loen Skylift, a new cable car, one of the steepest in the world, will open in Loen, Nordfjord in May 2017, offering travelers breathtaking views of the surrounding fjords as they make their journey to the top of Mt. Hoven, at an altitude of over 3300 feet. A restaurant and a viewing platform at the mountain station will be the starting point for mountain hikes and adventures year round.
 
> SCANDINAVIA

New flights connect the 
West Coast to Scandinavia
 
Finnair will open a new seasonal route from Helsinki to San Francisco in June 2017. Finland's national carrier will operate three weekly flights on this route between June 1 and September 30. San Francisco will be Finnair's fourth US destination, along with New York, Chicago and Miami. 
 
On March 28, 2017, Norwegian will open a new nonstop route between Oakland, CA and Copenhagen. The flight will operate twice a week on Norwegian's state-of-the-art 787 Dreamliners. 
 
> FINLAND

Tallink Silja debuts Megastar on Helsinki-Tallinn route

A symbol of a new era in the fast ferry services on the Baltic Sea, Tallink Silja's Megastar which premiered on January 29, now takes you from Helsinki to Tallinn in 2 hours. The new LNG-powered Megastar which complies with the strictest emissions regulations is 695 feet long, can accommodate 2800 passengers and will operate under the brand Tallink Shuttle.
 
> SWEDEN

Sleek and stylish hotels open in Stockholm's new city space

Two new design hotels  are set to  open in Stockholm on March 23, 2017 Hotel At Six and  Hobo They  will be  located in the new, green exciting  property development  Urban Escape  an innovative, creative work/social space consisting of five houses, four streets, two squares, and a shopping mall.  Hotel At Six's bi-level  rooftop restaurant and bar   Tak , will feature avant-garde Nordic-Japanese culinary creations .

> NORWAY

Oslo's legendary Grand Hotel completes major renovation 

The historic property, known for hosting Nobel Peace Prize winners, celebrities and entertainers, has undergone major renovations, and has been completely renewed. The entire reception area, lobby, the hotel's bars, restaurants, banquet halls, rooms and suites have all been fully upgraded. A new lobby bar, Othilia , has also been added to the Nordic inspired Palmen restaurant .
 
> NORWAY

Bergen adds new design hotels

Design hotel  Zander K
Bergen's most modern hotel is set to open on March 3, 2017. This 3.5-star property offers 249 contemporary rooms for urban explorers, it is conveniently located near cultural attractions, the railway station, airport bus and parking. Bicycles will be available for use - free of charge. 

Hotel Bergen Børs
This new 127 room, 4-star hotel, opens April 20, 2017, in one of Bergen's most central locations - within a 5-10 minute walk from some of Bergen's most popular attractions. The hotel offers contemporary accommodations and amenities, including free Wi-Fi and breakfast, within the framework of a classic architecture building.

> DENMARK

5 Star Luxury hotel planned next to Copenhagen's Tivoli

The Five star luxury Nobis Hotel Copenhagen will open right next to Tivoli Gardens and Copenhagen's Central Station, on September 11, 2017. The landmark building that originally served as the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music will be home to 77 artfully designed rooms, a gym, a sauna with cooling pool and hamam, a bar, a lounge area, and a restaurant that will help turn this stunning property into a hot spot for Copenhagen's downtown social scene.
