 The Springs at Borrego.

Our February traditional golf tournaments are back, and are sure to be sold out. First up on February 3 is the wild and wacky Redneck Open.  Sign up at the Pro Shop for 18 holes of wacky tournament play led by LPGA Pro Brandy Casey. On tournament day we'll dress up in our best (or worst) farmer or cowboy duds for golf, then head over to the Torres Room for a fried chicken dinner and awards party, then enjoy some great live music with Willy Blizzard starring Andrea Law and John Hough.

Red Neck Open Players
Terri Kaletta, Steven Boyd, Mike Galbos and Christie Stevens get into the Redneck spirit.

Thursday through Saturday, February 22-24 brings the biggest spectacle of the year with the Borrego Cup Canada vs. USA Golf Tournament.
The festivities begin with a parade through the RV Resort with folks in patriotic garb, then we go into Dreamweaver Amphitheater for an appetizer potluck and the announcement of the tournament pairings.

Then on Friday and Saturday the competition is on! Dressed in the most outrageous Canadian and USA themed apparel they can find, two person teams will go head-to-head in international competition.

    Amazon Dumps on Borrego

As a property manager in a rural location, I have long depended heavily on Amazon. The ability to be able to order an essential piece of hardware or supplies in just a few keystrokes and see it delivered to the property two days later was transformational. Apparently we must transform again.

Amazon has taken to dumping their deliveries to the Borrego Springs area at the Borrego Springs Post Office. Their staff is overwhelmed, and so is ours. We have been picking up to 20-30 packages a day and hauling them back to the Pro Shop. This usually involves two or even three trips to the post office per day, with half-hour to one-hour waits in line.

As we go into high season when the RV park will be running 80-90% occupancy, this burden may become unbearable. I personally have sworn off Amazon. I am having good success ordering what I need from sites like Home Depot, Target and others.

The Springs at Borrego is officially asking our guests to refrain from ordering from Amazon if you want delivery to The Springs. Please verify that any vendor will deliver to the physical address (2255 DiGiorgio Road). If delivery will be done through the US Postal Service, as Amazon is currently doing, please have it addressed to you in care of General Delivery, Borrego Springs, CA, 92004.

I have personally lodged my frustration with Amazon through their customer service line. (You've never seen that number on their website, have you?). If any of you would care to join me in letting them know the error of their ways, the number is 888-280-3321.

And if any of the 2000 subscribers to this newsletter work for Amazon, or know someone who does, have your people call me. We need to talk.
