Operation Red File

The OPERATION RED FILE program which has been in operation in Shawnee County for almost a year has the distinctive large, red magnetic file folders designed for seniors to place on their refrigerator for instant access, where emergency first responders will first look for vital medical and other contact information when entering a home.

"Keeping these key medical records easily accessible, and having them in a location and packaged in a way that is immediately recognizable to emergency medical personnel, can mean the difference between life and death in some instances," said KDADS Commissioner on Aging Craig Kaberline.

Participants are encouraged to put copies of their medical information and other critical documents in the file folder, such as a clear, current photograph of the participant, a copy of EKG and DNR orders, a medication list that should be updated as needed; and medical coverage information.  For the month of February, The OPERATION RED FILE envelopes will be available at the front desk.  Please direct any questions to Tiwana.

Youth Sunday was so much fun and a real privilege for youth to do. We're missing
a few youth in this photo... youth
Here's our two missing youth from the group picture.

What a terrific job our Praise Team Singers and the Band did for Youth Sunday!

We love it when our Youth Legacy come for Youth Sunday then join us for lunch.

We have many people to THANK that helped make Youth Sunday happen:
  • Cindy and Bill Naeger: the crosses used were hearts made by Bill three years ago. He reshaped them for us two years ago into crosses and we've now used them for four years. Cindy helped the youth dip fabric into liquid starch over two Sundays in the Youth Room to cover them. We didn't have to pay to have the t-shirts printed--Dori had someone make stencils that Bill and Cindy used to paint the design on the back. We saved on roses by buying our own and Cindy arranged them for us in a borrowed vase.
  • Dori and Mike Murphy: Dori made those eight new streamers. Mike video taped the 11:00 service and both helped with clean up. Dori was still with me at church into the evening on Saturday adding small touches to the Sanctuary we knew the youth would enjoy. All of the pictures that you'll see from Youth Sunday are courtesy of Dori as well. She's great at telling a story with her pictures.
  • Randall and Marlana Hodgkinson: Those bunches of balloons in the Sanctuary were blown up Sunday morning before service started by Randall and Marlana.
  • Pat Reeder and Bruce Woner: The yellow hearts were recycled from last year's Youth Sunday. Pat helped youth make them all yellow and Nancy Fusaro made the letters. Bruce and Pat both helped with cleanup after Youth Sunday.
  • Sandra Rak: This is Sandra's fourth year in the trenches on Hearth Room duty, where youth enjoy breakfast items and drinks between services.
  • Dave Blackman and Merry Glover: These two provided excellent sound and big screen coverage during Youth Sunday.
  • Mark Smith: Well, he helped me with all the extras, like moving the heavy stuff in the Sanctuary to prepare for services, running back and forth for things I needed, and being in charge of all the greeters and ushers for Youth Sunday.
  • Our High School Senior Speakers: Emma Francis, Errick Guzman, Alexis Moser, Aaron Rak, Liberty Schumacher, Erica Self, Maggie Turner and Hunter Wolfe. Our other senior was a Praise Team Singer, Cherokee Reiman. These High School Seniors are after God's own heart.
  • Doug and Dorothy Iliff: These two provided lunch for youth and their families after the 11:00 service was over. The youth were so looking forward to sub sandwiches and ice cream sundaes. They were happy!
  • Our Congregation: Youth need encouragement, and you had nothing but wonderful words for them. Thank you for that--they are already planning next year's Youth Sunday.
