Interested in learning more about First United Methodist? Would you enjoy a tour of the church and the opportunity to learn about membership? If you answered yes to any of these, you are welcome to attend Pizza with the Pastor  on Sunday, February 26th, 12:15-2 p.m. So that we will have enough pizza and materials, please email Tiwana or call the church office, 785-233-8100, by Wednesday, February 22nd.
Childcare is available upon request.

Phase 2 Activities

Your Phase 2 Team has been hard at work to develop some activities we hope you'll look forward to-- please let Tiwana know if you're interested:
  • Tuesday, Feb 28
    • 5:15-7 p.m. Join your Phase 2 friends for our first ever quarterly AFTER HOURS! We'll meet at the Celtic Fox in their private room. Phase 2 will provide some appetizers--drinks will be on your own. Our goal is to include those of you who are still gainfully employed. We're hoping you'll come and bring your friends!
  • Sunday, March 26
    • 3-5 p.m. We'll reserve the back room at Potwin Pottery to paint Easter themed items. After that we'll proceed to a restaurant (TBD) for dinner. The details for the Potwin Pottery event are:
      • If we have more than eight people, the studio fee will be $6 per person.
      • You'll choose your item to paint. The cost for these range from $5-$75. We have photos of some of the pieces for you to see. Please let us know if you're interested so you can choose your item in advance.
      • Once the pieces are painted, PP will fire them and have them available for pick-up in a week
  • Saturday, April 1
    • 9 a.m.-Noon Church grounds clean-up. By April 1, it will be time to lend a hand to make our grounds attractive--light lunch to follow!
  • Sunday, April 23
    • Quarterly Movie Night--Details to follow.

United Methodist Women's Luncheon

Dr. Tiffany Anderson, superintendent of Topeka 501, will be our guest speaker at our Wednesday, March 1st luncheon. The luncheon begins at 12 p.m. and Dr. Anderson will speak around 12:30. If you have the time over the noon hour we encourage you to join us. We meet in Fellowship Hall. The lunch is provided, but if you don't normally come to the meeting, could you call the church office at
785-233-8100 to let us know you plan to come? We want to make sure we have plenty of food.

Our church has a strong connection with State Street and area public schools, so we like to keep the importance of supporting children and education on our radars.

Dr. Anderson will also share how her faith helps her make constant tough decisions about how to best care for  her young charges, and address the role of women in leadership. Should be a good meeting. Hope to see you there!

Technology Training Provided Fellowship and Learningconnect

Thirty-five future techies decided to Grow BOLD Not Old yesterday on FUMC Technology Day. How and when to use the # (hashtag) and promotional uses of FUMC Facebook were a couple of the hot topics. Tutorials for online giving and using our Church Life app helped our members learn about these important tools. Mary Lou Auer was the happy winner of the Kindle Fire!

This blessing enables the Board of Trustees to move forward with developing plans to upgrade technology, lighting, sound, and video and provide repairs to the hand bells and the Sanctuary organ. Blessings to all for all.
