New Faces Bring Fresh Ideas to the UK TRC 

The UK TRC is proud to welcome Christine Sauer and Shonda Lucas as new Program Coordinators for the Adoption Support of Kentucky Program. We are also thrilled to welcome Christina Hoglen who is providing vital support to each of our TRC programs. We are happy to have Christine, Shonda and Christina sharing their unique experience and expertise to help achieve the mission of the TRC.

Resource Parent Appreciation Reception Celebrates Success and Committment 
Secretary Haynes speaking at 2012 Resource Parent Reception
CHFS Secretary Haynes spoke at the May 11th reception.
The 2012 Resource Parent Appreciation Reception was held on May 11th at the Kentucky Historical Society's Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in Frankfort.  The event highlighted awards celebrating the years of service and committment of Kentucky's Resource Parents and the successes of several young people formerly in out-of-home care.
 
The emotional celebration featured an address from new Cabinet for Health and Family Services Secretary, Audrey Tayse Haynes.  Having just been appointed by Governor Beshear on April 16th, Secretary Haynes shared some of her experiences from her first 30 days on the job and her hopes for the future.

Spring Enrichment Trainings Keep Mentors Current 

During the months of March and April the Resource Parent Mentor Program trained over 40 Mentors on the latest policies and best practices.  Three one-day trainings were held at locations around the state. Topics ranged from effective communication strategies during individualized education plan meetings, to making resource homes that promote academic success.
