Twelve Steps to
Personal Transformation
Sunday, July 10, 10:00 AM

This week I am continuing with my series, The Twelve Steps of Transformation, based on The Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.

I appreciate that The Twelve Steps recognize and allow for our human nature. The founders of The Twelve Steps understood that spiritual recovery is a process, which does not happen instantaneously, or even quickly. They understood, from their personal experience, that one who is so deeply entrenched in their own way of thinking and being, as most addicts are, does not let go hastily or without effort.

This is why step two begins with "Came to believe..." and step six begins with "Were entirely ready..." and step eight includes the phrase, "Became willing to." They acknowledge that it is not human nature to surrender control. Believing we are in control gives us a sense of power. In Truth, personal control is simply an illusion. It is an illusion that many of us hold tightly. It is not easy for us to give in to God and stand with our brother and way shower Jesus and say with conviction, "Of myself I can do nothing. It is the Father within that does the work." (John 5:30)

From our Unity perspective ...

Special Musical Guest: Marcy Baruch
Sunday, July 10th 10:00 AMsoloist
Marcy Baruch

We are excited to welcome Marcy Baruch as our musical guest artist this Sunday!

If the stars could sing a love song, they might very well sound like the voice of Marcy Baruch (bah-Roosh). Full of radiant warmth, passion, and honesty, her music is born of one soul-mission: to open us into the wondrous depths and magnificence of who we truly are. Refreshing in scope, Marcy's songs embrace the listener in a number of styles: the sounds of Scottish bagpipes; the sparseness of Americana-style folk odes; the lushness of piano-based orchestral numbers; a cappella original hymns; and chants of devotion--all of these have their place in an experience with this soulfully engaging musical artist.

Following the release of her third CD, The Strength of Love, Marcy's song "This Inner Space" received the emPower Music & Arts Posi Award for the best healing song of the year. Emmy nominated producer Steve Avedis, whose clients include Tony Bennett and Kenny Rogers, exclaimed, "You've got to hear this woman. Her voice drew me in right up front with its silky-smooth, sultry quality; she is like no one else I have ever heard." Her song "House of the Soul's Belonging," written with Jan Garrett & JD Martin, received the 2015 Posi Award in the Uniting category. Later this year, she will be creating a new CD of devotional chant. She also loves her work as a voice coach, her studies in mystical and evolutionary Christianity-and she is so very honored to be joining Rev. David and all at Unity Spiritual Center of Denver!

UNITY 101Unity101

The Unity movement was founded by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore in 1890 as a healing ministry  based on the power of prayer and the power of our thoughts to create our own reality. The  Fillmores regarded Jesus as the great example rather than the great exception; interpreted the  Bible metaphysically; and taught that God is present within all of us.

CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

Ongoing  Thursday Tai' Chi Gung Class
7:00 - 8:00 PM
TaiChiGung
A 5-week Monday Morning Tai Chi Gung class is beginning on
Monday, June 20th  from 10:00 - 10:45
followed by a meditation from 11:00 - 11:45 AM.

Do you want to make your spiritual life physical?

Tai Chi Gung is sometimes called the "simple yoga". It features fluid breathing and graceful moving exercises that build stamina, relieve stress, improve balance, speed recovery from injury, strengthen the immune system, foster peace of mind and develop mental focus. This gentle, ancient system of health and longevity from Tibet has been passed down in an unbroken lineage from the original Master Boganathar, known in China as the sage Lao Tzu for 3000 years.

Can the Infinite Abundance in your mind be in your body as well?

Tai Chi Gung includes a series of simple standing exercises that help people connect to the energy of the life force in nature consciously. It is an ancient art and science that shows students how to draw, store, project and release the chi through their spirit, mind and physical body; gradually returning it to the perfect image in which it was originally created ... manifesting good on earth as it is in heaven.

Facilitated by  Rev. Phyllis Hoover, ThD on a love-offering basis.

HEALTH & WHOLENESS EVENTS

July 9 - Food Awareness I  10:00 AM- 12:00 PM

BASIC CONCEPTS OF NUTRITION FOCUSING ON THE HEALING COMPONENTS OF FOOD with Dr. Peter Stucz .

For the remainder of the year, Unity Spiritual Centerhealthandwholeness Denver is pleased to present events, classes and a series of workshops which will focus on ideas of individual Health and Wholeness. Our Unity perspective views Wholeness as the fundamental Reality of each person. In order to demonstrate wholeness in mind and body, we need to understand that we are seeking to express the eternal, Divine Idea called Life.  This Idea is the pure potential or pattern for wholeness that attains form through our individual consciousness.

Like Wholeness, Health is a Principle that underlies and pervades everything. In the Absolute, Health is an aspect of the truth of What we are. It is not something that is imposed from without; Health expresses from within consciousness as we keep our thoughts centered on the Principle of Life. As Unity co-founder, Charles Fillmore states "Health is the normal condition of humankind and of all creation.  Health...is as universal and enduring as God."

The Saturday workshops include the following:
August 6- Food Awareness II
September 10 -  Meditation I
October 1 - Meditation II
November - Science and Spirituality
December 3 - to be announced

10:00 AM Sunday Service Message, August 22nd
Divine Audacity: Dare to be the Light of the World

The 1990's Christian evangelical imperative was "WWJD"?  What would Jesus do?  Following Jesus is a monumental assignment.  Being the light of the world?  Preposterous.  Mission impossible.  Or is it?  Linda de-mystifies Jesus' great declaration, "You are the light of the world," by revealing the power behind many facets of the light, our spiritual abilities.  Audaciously, Linda shows how it is possible for everyone to do what Jesus did.
 Suggested love-offering, $25

Sunday August 21st, 12:00 - 2:00 PM

Suggested love-offering, $20

ARE YOU ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTING TO
Unity Spiritual Center Denver?

We recently learned that if you have a zero balance on your re-loadable for Unity King Soopers card for 30 days or longer, it is no longer connected to the payback program.

While you can still re-load your card as usual, it is no longer connected to Unity of Denver, and thus, does not contribute to our  payback program.
The only way to rectify this is to purchase another $10 card in our bookstore, and be sure to use it once a month.

NOT SURE... if your card is still active in the payback program, please email the office with the serial number on the back of your card for confirmation.

If you don't have a card, they are available in the bookstore for $10. *This initial $10 is available for use at any King Soopers.  You can reload it thereafter and use it just like cash and Unity Spiritual Center Denver will receive 5% of your total purchase.
This program has been a good source of income for us in the past!
