Making A Mend
Sunday, July 17, 10:00 AM

Father Richard Rohr is quickly becoming one of my favorite spiritual teachers and authors. I am extremely grateful to have discovered him, I only regret that it did not happen sooner. His teaching on The Twelve Steps is one of my inspirations for my current lesson series, The Twelve Steps of Transformation. Fr. Rohr's book, Breathing Under Water, explores the spirituality of The Twelve Step program from a Christian perspective. I find that many, albeit not all, of his perspectives resonate with much of Unity's metaphysical approach to interpretation of Scripture.

In this book, Fr. Rohr encourages us to remember that while Jesus is our example of one who fully realized his Divinity, that he was also an example of how we can demonstrate the Christ in our lives. He reminds us that Jesus most often referred to himself as a "son of man" thereby claiming to be one of us, the archetypal human, an everyman. Fr. Rohr says...

Special Musical Guest: Anne Achenbach
Sunday, July 17th 10:00 AMsoloist
Anne Achenbach

Anne Achenbach is our featured soloist this Sunday.

Many of you know her from her years at Mile Hi Church out in Lakewood, and a few of you may even remember her from the "good ole days" out at the Country Dinner Playhouse! She performed leading lady roles in many productions there over the years, including "Camelot", "The Music Man", "Showboat" and "Nunsense", just to name a few.

Anne has an album for sale in the bookstore today called "The Gift", a compilation of fun Broadway tunes, Gospel hymns, inspirational message songs and even a few original compositions Anne wrote and arranged herself.

Better known as "Annie", she would like you to know that Unity of Denver is the very first New Thought church she ever attended. Her
beloved mother brought her to this church back in 1970, and she has been a recovering German-Lutheran ever since!

UNITY 101Unity101

The Unity movement was founded by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore in 1890 as a healing ministry based on the power of prayer and the power of our thoughts to create our own reality. The Fillmores regarded Jesus as the great example rather than the great exception; interpreted the Bible metaphysically; and taught that God is present within all of us.

DEMONSTRATING THE TRUTH WE KNOWDemonstrating
Sunday, July 31, 11:30 AM

"We all intuitively know that there is something wrong in a world where poverty, suffering, and sorrow prevail. We would not, any of us, create such a world. We all want to see these things blotted out in this world. This is the index pointing the way to the possibility of doing so. Whatever we see as wrong is for us to right. "
- Charles Fillmore, Jesus Christ Heals

We have all witnessed the suffering and sorrow in our world. Recently, we have seen images, some of them visceral, on the news and on social media which provide evidence that something is wrong in the world.  This is not the world that we would consciously choose to create.

As Mr. Fillmore stated in the quote above, "Whatever we see as wrong is for us to right." We all know that something must be done. While we would like to contribute to the solution, many of us don't know what to do to help create a world that works for everyone. So, let's talk about it.

At Unity Spiritual Center Denver we are offering an opportunity to engage in conversation. On Sunday, July 31, at 11:30 we will gather in our sanctuary in the spirit of oneness to share our thoughts and feelings about the racial tension we are witnessing in our country.

We will also discuss how we can live from the positive, practical spiritual principles of Unity to Demonstrate the Truth We Know, and help to, as Mr. Fillmore said, blot these things out in this world.

Childcare is available upon request. Please email Jackie and Sierra here or sign-up in the Gathering Space.

Tom Bird Workshop
Write, Right from God:  Write Your Bestseller in a Weekend
Thursday, August 4th, 7:00 PM

Did you ever wonder why, at times, words just poured out of you or why you feel mysteriously drawn to write a book? If so, this mini-workshop is for you. It answers all of the questions about why you are really meant to write. And, as you will find, the real reason you are drawn to write has way more significance than to just sell a few books or to make a name for yourself.

When you experience the Tom Bird Method, you will:
  • Short circuit the ego and create a direct connection to Source
  • Unlock the words within you
  • Know what book is inside you
  • Have a way to allow it to come through easier than imagined
Tom Bird is a bestselling author and --according to Paul McCarthy, legendary editor to nine #1 New York Times bestselling authors--the top writing coach in the world. Through his unique spiritual approach, Tom leads hundreds of would-be authors to complete the writing of their books in a weekend. In the past two years, forty-four of those authors found homes on Amazon Best Seller
lists. Tom teaches writing from the perspective of a divine rite of passage--and how writing through this divine method taps into the Divine, thus transforming the lives of the reader and author alike.

Love offering.

CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

Ongoing  Thursday Tai' Chi Gung Class
7:00 - 8:00 PM
TaiChiGung
A 5-week Monday Morning Tai Chi Gung class is beginning on
Monday, June 20th  from 10:00 - 10:45
followed by a meditation from 11:00 - 11:45 AM.

Do you want to make your spiritual life physical?

Tai Chi Gung is sometimes called the "simple yoga". It features fluid breathing and graceful moving exercises that build stamina, relieve stress, improve balance, speed recovery from injury, strengthen the immune system, foster peace of mind and develop mental focus. This gentle, ancient system of health and longevity from Tibet has been passed down in an unbroken lineage from the original Master Boganathar, known in China as the sage Lao Tzu for 3000 years.

Can the Infinite Abundance in your mind be in your body as well?

Tai Chi Gung includes a series of simple standing exercises that help people connect to the energy of the life force in nature consciously. It is an ancient art and science that shows students how to draw, store, project and release the chi through their spirit, mind and physical body; gradually returning it to the perfect image in which it was originally created ... manifesting good on earth as it is in heaven.

Facilitated by  Rev. Phyllis Hoover, ThD on a love-offering basis.

HEALTH & WHOLENESS EVENTS

For the remainder of the year, Unity Spiritual Centerhealthandwholeness Denver is pleased to present events, classes and a series of workshops which will focus on ideas of individual Health and Wholeness. Our Unity perspective views Wholeness as the fundamental Reality of each person. In order to demonstrate wholeness in mind and body, we need to understand that we are seeking to express the eternal, Divine Idea called Life.  This Idea is the pure potential or pattern for wholeness that attains form through our individual consciousness.

Like Wholeness, Health is a Principle that underlies and pervades everything. In the Absolute, Health is an aspect of the truth of What we are. It is not something that is imposed from without; Health expresses from within consciousness as we keep our thoughts centered on the Principle of Life. As Unity co-founder, Charles Fillmore states "Health is the normal condition of humankind and of all creation.  Health...is as universal and enduring as God."

The Saturday workshops include the following:
September 10 -  Meditation I
October 1 - Meditation II
November - Science and Spirituality
December 3 - to be announced

10:00 AM Sunday Service Message, August 22nd
Divine Audacity: Dare to be the Light of the World

The 1990's Christian evangelical imperative was "WWJD"?  What would Jesus do?  Following Jesus is a monumental assignment.  Being the light of the world?  Preposterous.  Mission impossible.  Or is it?  Linda de-mystifies Jesus' great declaration, "You are the light of the world," by revealing the power behind many facets of the light, our spiritual abilities.  Audaciously, Linda shows how it is possible for everyone to do what Jesus did.
 Suggested love-offering, $25

While you can still re-load your card as usual, it is no longer connected to Unity of Denver, and thus, does not contribute to our  payback program.
The only way to rectify this is to purchase another $10 card in our bookstore, and be sure to use it once a month.

NOT SURE... if your card is still active in the payback program, please email the office with the serial number on the back of your card for confirmation.

If you don't have a card, they are available in the bookstore for $10. *This initial $10 is available for use at any King Soopers.  You can reload it thereafter and use it just like cash and Unity Spiritual Center Denver will receive 5% of your total purchase.
