Twelve Months of Giving
The Events Committee would like to begin Twelve Month of Giving.  We plan on continuing to sponsor and collect items for Utica's food pantry.
Each month the pantry will let us know what type of food is needed.  Please place the items in the bin upstairs or downstairs by the door.  We will collect these at the church and deliver them to the pantry.

UMCOR Cleaning Kit
The United Methodist Committee on Relief ("UMCOR") exists to assist United Methodists and churches to become involved globally in direct ministry to persons in need through programs of relief, rehabilitation, and service, including issues of displaced persons, hunger and poverty, disaster response, and disaster risk reduction. Moments with Mark #178
Satan's #1 tool is discouragement.  Discouragement is a result of repeated disappointment.  It can be a spirit of heaviness and frustration. We lose heart; we quit, give up, and give in!  Satan is persistent.  He will do anything he can to keep us focused on anything but God!
Things are just not going the way I think they should go!  Where is God?  Why doesn't he do something?  He isn't interested and He doesn't care!  Maybe you feel like shaking your fist at God or doing a little whining or complaining?  I've done all these things when I don't have the right perspective.
Discouragement is contagious and we can pass it to others.  It's ok to tell God how you really feel.  He can handle it, but we still need to chase the feelings of discouragement.  I like this verse from the word, Psalm 42:1 MSG version, "Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul?  Why are you crying the blues?  Fix my eyes on God---soon I'll be praising again. He puts a smile on my face.  He's my God."  Praise God with all you have in you!  Satan has no defense against praise.  Praise will release the power of God into your situation and chase the feelings of discouragement!
