CHAMBER CHAT
Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce
July 2014
Director's Report...
What a whirlwind of a month for your new Executive Director!  Thanks for your continued hospitality and for allowing me to get to know you and more of the community.  I want to say Thank You to our youth volunteers, Madison Kendall and Ryan Jarratt and to our retiree volunteers Nancy Libbey, Jimmy Kendrick, and Joan Kamien.  We are always looking for volunteers to help answer phones, greet visitors and help with special projects.

I was pleased to be included in welcoming the 19th President of Alcorn State University, Dr. Alfred Rankin Jr. to the community on June 23.  It was a pleasure to see all who attended this event.

As each week passes, I have more and more appreciation for our Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce.  Please help me in recruiting new and established businesses to the Chamber so that we are able to continue our efforts towards enhancing quality of life.  I'm working with Wayne Mansfield of the Warren County Port Commission and others to recruit a diversity of retail businesses into Vicksburg as we grow our economic base.

First year business success, Ben and Joyce Blue of Edible Arrangements (pictured left), hosted the business members for a ribbon cutting for their one year anniversary.  We also had the privilege of celebrating the opening of Vicksburg's newest antique store, Keystone Antique Furnishings, owned by Vivian and David Monistere (pictured right).  Help us spread the word about these two great additions to Vicksburg.

Please make plans to join me at our next Chamber luncheon on July 16 when we hear from Vicksburg's own Senator Briggs Hopson on legislative matters.

Best,
Executive Director

MEMBER TESTIMONIAL: Helen's Florist & Gifts

Nancy and Wendell Gray, Owners
(Mary Kaylin, daughter, pictured)

We purchased Helen's Florist from my parents 22 years ago and we have been Chamber members for 17 years.  Both of us are native Vicksburgers. Vicksburg is home.

We feel the Chamber of Commerce is a good ambassador for new business, a sounding board for current businesses and a bridge from business to the general public.  All efforts are needed to strengthen our community.
Time constraints and often times late working hours prevent our attendance of Chamber events but we still feel membership is an important way to promote our city and Vicksburg/Warren County growth.
