About Walt Bethel:
Walt Bethel is a fIfth generation Floridian, born and raised in Arcadia,  with a vast knowledge of all areas of Florida Real Estate and an ardent appreciation for Florida history.    

The purchase and development of his first orange grove when he was just sixteen years old fueled Walt's passion for real estate.  

Since then, he has bought, owned, and sold a wide variety of properties throughout a successful business career.  His investments have included acreage, agricultural properties, residential homes, condos, and commercial properties. 

Walt's marketing and sales experience was cultivated over time at his family's business, Bethel Farms, where he marketed, managed, and sold products to "Big Box" retailers across the Southeastern

 and  Midwestern United States.

 From an early age, Walt's dad instilled in him the values to work hard and always have a goal, to look for a better way of doing things, and to constantly improve on them.  

The daily implementation of these principles, coupled with his enjoyment of networking with new people and his experience in business, sales, and marketing, have contributed to Walt's success as a Realtor.


 Walt has served on various boards and committees throughout the years. He has coached and actively supports local youth athletic programs and leagues. 

He and his wife Jill, also a fourth generation Floridian, reside in Punta Gorda. They have two teenage children, a daughter Peyton and a son   Truman.

Did you Know?

1 ) Turkeys are more than just big  chickens-more than 45 million years of evolution separates the two species.
2 ) The wild turkey was hunted nearly to extinction by the early 1900s, when the population reached a low of around 30,000 birds. But restoration programs across North America have brought the numbers up to seven million today.
3 ) Male  turkeys  are called "gobblers," after the "gobble" call they make to announce themselves to females (which are called "hens") and compete with other males. Other turkey sounds include "purrs," "yelps" and "kee-kees."
4) An adult gobbler weighs 16 to 22 pounds on average, has a beard of modified feathers on his breast that reaches seven inches or more long, and has sharp spurs on his legs for fighting. A hen is smaller, weighing around 8 to 12 pounds, and has no beard or spurs. Both genders have a snood (a dangly appendage on the face), wattle (the red dangly bit under the c
hin) and only a few feathers on the head.
5 ) Studies have shown that snood length is associated with male turkey health. In addition, a 1997 study in the  Journal of Avian Biology found that female turkeys prefer males with long snoods and that snood length can also be used to predict the winner of a competition between two males.
6) A turkey's gender canbe  determined from its droppings-males produce spiral-shaped poop and females' poop is shaped like the letter J.
7 )  Turkeys can run at speeds of up to 25 miles per hour and fly as fast as 55 miles per hour.
8) A group of related male turkeys will band together to  court females, though only one member of the group gets to mate.
9 ) When a hen is ready to make little turkeys, she'll lay about 10 to 12 eggs, one egg per day, over a period of about two weeks. The eggs will incubate for about 28 days before hatching.
10 ) Benjamin Franklin never proposed the turkey as a symbol for America, but he  did once praise it  as being "a much more respectable bird" than the bald eagle.

Historic Babcock Ranch Preserve in Operation and Open to Public
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Babcock Ranch Preserve in Charlotte County begins a new chapter in its rich history as it becomes the largest state-owned working cattle ranch to be managed by a private cattle company while expanding public recreational opportunities, including: hiking, biking, horseback riding and ranch tours. When Babcock Ranch was purchased by the state of Florida in 2005, it was hailed as the crowning jewel of the Florida Forever program. This week, the management of the nearly 70,000-acre ranch transferred from the state to Tarpon Blue Resources and Land Management.

"Babcock Ranch is steeped in Florida history, and state leaders had the foresight to preserve this land for future generations," said Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam. "This new agreement honors the agricultural heritage of the land by keeping the ranch in private cattle production while allowing the state to focus our attention on expanding recreational opportunities for the public. It is a model for others to follow. With the rapid growth of our state, protecting our environmental resources, keeping the ranch in agricultural production and providing recreational opportunities to the public is more important than ever."  
In 2005, Gov. Jeb Bush and the Cabinet voted to purchase Babcock Ranch as part of the Florida Forever program in what was the single largest state conservation land acquisition in Florida's history. In 2015, the Legislature established the Babcock Ranch Preserve Act to protect and preserve the agricultural, scientific, scenic, geologic, watershed, fish, wildlife, historic, cultural and recreational values of the preserve. This agreement honors the purchase and the intent of that Act by protecting the natural resources while managing for multiple uses.
