2015 marks the 40th anniversary of Women's Health Specialists being founded as the Chico Feminist Women's Health Center. Since 1975, we have grown to 9 clinic sites and our feminist impact reaches far beyond the northern California communities we serve!

The Reproductive FACT Act was passed by the CA Assembly and will move on through the Senate. Watch Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins defend this bill and its importance to California women and public health.

SB 23

Last week the Senate voted on Senator Holly Mitchell's bill, SB 23, and it passed! SB 23 will end discrimination against families in poverty by repealing the CalWORKS Maximum Family Grant (MFG) Rule. We continue to support and lobby for this bill as it moves through the Assembly. More on SB 23.

The CA Healthy Youth Act also recently passed through the Assembly!

This bill would update current law to ensure CA students receive sex education that is accurate, comprehensive, medically accurate, age-appropriate and LGBT inclusive.

Currently, the WHS Speaker's Bureau teaches sexual health from a feminist point of view to some of the high schools in our communities, and we know first hand how important LGBT inclusion and comprehensive sexual healthcare is to teens!

Dido Hasper Day!

July 21st we will have our Dido Hasper Speculum Give Away Day for our Chico, Sacramento, and Redding clinics!

On this annual day in commemoration of WHS Founder Dido Hasper, any woman who calls or comes to one of our clinics gets a free speculum kit so that she may perform self exam on herself and see her own cervix at home!

Volunteer Opportunities with Women's Health Specialists!

Our Outreach & Education Departments continue to do grassroots work, educating our communities about affordable healthcare, our services, and reproductive justice. Summer outreach activities include condom-labeling parties and flyering at Farmer's Markets and festivals. We also have summer internship opportunities!
