WHS Supports Reproductive Freedom Week and we have our annual Bowl-a-thons in April as well! Both fundraisers are for our Women in Need fund, which provides women with financial help for medical services, gas money, motels, childcare or whatever a woman may need. Many women travel for hours, across several counties, to visit Women's Health Specialists. It's amazing how much something as small as bus fare can make a difference!

Bowl-a-thon!
WHS will be joining clinics across the country this month for the National Abortion Access Bowl-a-thon! Come to the Redding Bowl-a-thon on April 18th, or the Chico Bowl-a-thon on April 25th! Join a team, start a team, or sponsor a bowler to help bowl down barriers to abortion! All proceeds go to the Women in Need fund.

The Reproductive FACT (Freedom, Accountability, Comprehensive Care, and Transparency) Act, AB 775

This CA Senate bill is in response to crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) and demands both licensed and unlicensed clinics to be more up front about the services they provide and the individual rights patients have as passed by the Reproductive Privacy Act. It requires all clinics, including CPCs, to tell women their reproductive health rights. Read more about CPCs in this recent Sacramento Bee Article. Women's Health Specialists proudly supports AB 775.

We also continue to support Senator Holly Mitchell's bill, SB 23, at the Capitol. SB 23 will end discrimination against families in poverty by repealing the CalWORKS Maximum Family Grant (MFG) Rule, and WHS was there in support when it recently passed through the Senate Human Services Committee.  More on SB 23.

WHS Sacramento faces on-going challenges of anti-abortion picketing. Klabusich cites the Feminist Majority Foundation's report on clinic violence and harassment, and describes our clinic escort team's efforts in helping clients and staff. Read On.
