Friday Schedule
We have changed the Friday schedule recently and just want to make sure no one misses out on these classes.
If you have missed classes due to vacation, sickness, or holidays, we offer Make Up Classes to take care of this. Please remember that we are only able to adjust your payment schedule if you provide us with enough notice before your absence of 2 weeks or more. If you are missing due to sickness, holiday or vacation that is less than 2 weeks we encourage you to take part in our make up classes on Fridays.

- Sparring Class - 5:00 - 6:00pm
- Weapons Class - 6:00 - 7:00pm
- Competition Class - 7:00 - 8:30pm
Curriculum
Over the past few years we have put a great focus on Poomsae and Self-Defense in our color belt curriculum but we have drifted from the sport of Taekwondo. Due to our testing regimen and format we have not been looking at sparring as a requirement for testing. I feel that it's kind of like going to soccer practice every week but never actually playing a game. Therefor we will be changing this in our main curriculum to bring back the sport of taekwondo to our regular program students. Starting this October we will start doing Sparring on the second day of your weekly program. Therefore, Mondays and Tuesdays will be regular curriculum including Poomsae and Self-Defense. While Wednesdays and Thursdays will be Sparring Focused. Sunday classes will include sparring on a regular basis considering your class is a 2 hour lesson.
Beginners
For our beginner classes we will not be required to purchase any sparring equipment right away but may be a good idea in the near future. Beginner classes will mainly work on stepping, foot work, combinations and the basic rules of sport Taekwondo in a non contact environment. Beginners will be tested on these skills in our upcoming test at the end of the year.
Intermediate
Our intermediate classes will be doing more free sparring with light contact and will be using our Chest and Head Protectors on a regular basis. But I would highly recommend purchasing your own gear since many of our gear is getting old and does not fit everyone properly. Intermediate testing will include light sparring with Shin, Arm, Head and Mouth Guards.
Advanced
Advanced classes will be working on more advanced levels of sparring and strategy and will require full protection for classes and testing.
Since we are going to be putting a greater focus on Sparring we highly recommend that everyone start getting some of the gear as soon as you can. We are able to order in all that you need with next class delivery. We also offer some great package deals so be sure to talk to Master Thornton or Master Patterson soon.
If you have any comments or concerns please talk with Master Thornton on Master Patterson.
