Commemorative Brick to Honor a Graduate
The York Catholic High School Grotto is a beautiful area located on the east side of campus.  Through the generous donations of many friends, family, and students, the grotto was created.  A statue of Mary and a rock garden form a peaceful site for prayer and reflection.  Surrounding the area is a walkway of engraved bricks dedicated to the honor and memory of family, friends, and classmates. Click here for an order form to place a brick in your graduate's honor in our Grotto.

Sports Physicals Required
Athletic Physicals
All Fall athletes must have a physical dated between June 1, 2017 and August 9, 2017 to be eligible to participate in Fall sports.  Physicals given prior to June 1, 2017 are NOT recognized by the PIAA.
Athletic Physicals for the 2017-2018 school year will be held on Monday, June 5, from 6-7:30 PM at OSS Health at 1855 Powder Mill Road.  Students must bring their completed 7-page PIAA Comprehensive Initial Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation form (CIPPE) that can be printed here or accessed on the homepage of the YC website at  (the correct forms will be dated March 22, 2017 at the bottom of page 1).  The forms must be signed by a parent.  Cost for the physical is $15.  Checks should be made payable to York Catholic.  OSS requests student-athletes DO NOT enter the building prior to 5:45 PM.
If you go to your own doctor, you must use the PIAA Sports Physical Form (CIPPE) referenced above.  No other form is acceptable.
Please note:  OSS is conducting sports physicals ONLY.  OSS staff will not be performing driver's license physicals or 11th grade physicals.  All students entering Grade 11 are required by the State of Pennsylvania to have a complete physical prior to the start of the school year.  Grade 11 athletes must schedule an appointment with their personal physician between June 1, 2017 and August 9, 2017.  Be sure to take both physical forms to the appointment (sports physical form & Grade 11 physical form).
ImPACT Testing
There has been extensive media coverage about athletics and concussions.  York Catholic has been at the forefront in this area and includes the ImPACT Test (Immediate Post-Concussive Assessment and Cognitive Testing) to monitor our athletes.
All interscholastic athletes, cheerleaders, and members of the marching band and bandfront are required to take an ImPACT Test to establish a cognitive baseline for concussions. This is an established technology used in order to determine the return to play/activity guidelines for participants who have sustained a concussion.
The test is administered on a computer.  The initial baseline is adequate for two years. Therefore, if a student participated on a YC team last season and had an ImPACT test, he or she is not required to repeat it this season.
It is the athlete's responsibility to email Brad Hayek at  to see if a valid ImPACT Test is on file at YC.  If an ImPACT test needs to be taken or re-taken, contact Mr. Hayek for instructions.  Once completed, the student must check with Mr. Hayek to see if the updated ImPACT Test was transmitted properly and is on file.
Sports Physical Forms and ImPACT Tests must be given to Mr. Hayek by August 9 to be permitted to start Fall practice.

For more information, contact Brad Hayek at , or Kyle Smink at .

In Case You Missed It...

Congratulations to Rocio Garcia, Mayra Hernandez, and Jaiden Torres who were awarded $1000 college scholarships from the York County Hispanic Coalition this morning. Of the four students who received scholarship, three of them were from York Catholic!

The Scholarship program benefits York County high school seniors, of Hispanic or Latino heritage, who wish to pursue higher education. Applicants completed an interview, and in addition to academics and heritage, soft skills and articulation were considered.

Pictured are the award winners holding their certificates (Jaiden, Rocio, Mayra) with Jacqueline Marrero, Co-Chair of the Coalition (center).
