Corporate Support for YC Appreciated

Today, YC hosted several corporate and community friends who joined us for our annual Corporate Donor Appreciation Breakfast. York Catholic is very appreciative to the many corporations, businesses, and community organizations who choose YC for their philanthropy. Last year, these wonderful donors contributed over $250,000 in support of scholarships, tuition assistance, facilities projects, and technology. We send great appreciation to everyone for their thoughtful generosity which propels students to success and helps to keep our school community vibrant.

Staff Update
We have a few staff updates to share with everyone.   Tomorrow  will be Mrs. Nance Montgomery's last day with us in the Main Office as the Attendance Secretary.  We are grateful to her for the service she has provided to our students and families over the past few years and wish her well as she returns to the Children's Home of York to further the mission of that organization.  Beginning  Monday, October 23 , Mrs. Laurie Moir will move to the Main Office as an Administrative Assistant, fulfilling the Attendance responsibilities and other duties.  She will also continue to work with Mrs. Eva Hess in Guidance until further notice.

Friday, October 27, will be Ms. Maida Connor's last day with York Catholic as the Executive Director of Advancement.  As a result of her work with our school over the last three years, our community has seen increases in annual giving and new capital projects completed to include classroom revitalization and the adaptation of "one to one" Chromebooks.  We wish her well as she has accepted an offer at the Seton Shrine, which is much closer to her home.
8th Grade Retreat
Our 8th Grade students will be on Retreat at  Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Shrine in Emmitsburg, Maryland on Thursday, October 26.
Students will spend the day exploring the very grounds where Mother Seton lived and worked! The retreat will be composed of large group time, tours, lunch, and reflective prayer time.  We pray this retreat will strengthen the students' personal relationship with Our Lord.

Any 8th grade parent interested in chaperoning, please contact Mrs. White at swhite@yorkcatholic.org as soon as possible.

In Case You Missed It...
In case you missed us on social media this week, here's a post we'd like you to see.

9th Grade Retreat at GAiN  (Global Aid Network) Logistics Center in Mt. Joy, PA.

Students served our global world by helping to package seeds, blankets, and shoes for those living in Africa and South America.

The students prayed the Rosary in the midst of their service and ate a very basic lunch as a reminder of all those who must live in poverty every day.

Prior to leaving GAiN to head back to York Catholic, one of the community volunteers, Jean Polansky from Landisville, PA, handed Mrs. White this note:

"I want to compliment the students I have been working with from York Catholic.  I find these students to be mannerly, courteous, and a pleasure to be around.  I have worked over the years with many different schools and students and you can be proud for the job they do in representing York Catholic.  York Catholic students represent the Lord in their work.  God bless you."
