Those airplanes you hear overhead means the return of the annual Chicago Air and Water Show.  Click here for the performance schedule and more details.

There will Cubs Night Games on Monday, August 27th, Tuesday, August 28th and Wednesday, August 29th at 7:05pm.  Please remember that on streets North of Belmont, Zone 383 Residential Permit Parking restrictions will begin at 5:00pm.

Our office will be closed from Saturday, September 1st until Monday, September 3rd for the Labor Day weekend.  We will re-open on Tuesday, September 4th.

Wanted for Attempt Criminal Sexual Assault/Burglary - 19th District

 

About This Crime

On Thursday, August 16, 2012, at 5:00 a.m., the female victims, ages 24 and 25, were asleep in their residence on the 800 Block of West Newport when an unknown offender broke in. The offender then attempted to sexually assault the 25 year old female victim.  The disturbance awakened the second victim which caused the offender to flee the residence with miscellaneous property belonging to the victims.

 

About The Offender

The Offender is described as a Male, Black, 25-35 years of age, 6'1"-6'3", 180-200lbs., with black close-cropped hair. The Offender was wearing a long-sleeved dark-colored tshirt and jeans.

 

What You Can Do

  • Be aware of this situation and alert neighbors in the area about this crime.
  • Ensure all doors and windows are locked in your residence.
  • Call 911 to report any suspicious person(s), vehicle(s) or activity in your neighborhood.
  • Call 911 and provide a detailed description of the offender.

Property Tax Questions - Commissioner Gainer Satellite Office Hours

The Cook County Board of Review will be open for property tax valuation appeals for the Lakeview Township from August 20, 2012 - September 18, 2012. Taxpayers may file a one page complaint, the Board will analyze comparable properties to determine if the property is assessed too high a value. Appeals may be filed in person at the seminar on August 29th or online at www.cookcountyboardofreview.com
Voter Registration 

By now, you should have received your updated voter registration card in the mail.  PLEASE NOTE:  due to the new ward redistricting, your precinct and additional voter information has likely changed.  New polling locations will be assigned in the near future. 

Have you moved or changed your name recently?  Then you need to update your voter registration.  The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming Presidential Election is October 9, 2012.


You can register to vote:
  • At our office (1057 W. Belmont) by bringing in two forms of identification; one form MUST show your current address.
  • At the Board of Election office located at 69 W. Washington, Suite 600, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • When you renew your driver's license or are visiting any state agency.
  • At the  Chicago Board of Elections website by printing out a voter registration form to be filled out and mailed back to the Chicago Board of Elections.

Wrigley Field Road Tour

Wrigley Field

The third annual "Wrigley Field Road Tour...100 Miles to Go!" will kick off at Wrigley Field at 8:00am/  An expected 400 participants will leave from Wrigley Field and ride approximately 50 miles north of the city then make a loop back to Wrigley Field.  There will be no road closures for this event.

The ride ends in celebration with a party at Wrigley Field for the participants, family members and volunteers, including a musical performance by Poi Dog Pondering.   The performance is scheduled to end by 8 p.m. About half of the ballpark lights will remain on to allow crews to load out equipment and reset the field. They anticipate work will be completed by 11 p.m.

All proceeds benefit Chicago Cubs Charities and World Bicycle Relief.

Labor Day WOOMGS Parade

Wellington and Pine Grove

 

The Wellington-Oakdale Old Glory Marching Society (WOOGMS) celebrates its annual Labor Day Parade now in its 48th year! Enthusiastic marchers will uphold the WOOGMS motto, "Everybody Marches, Nobody (just) Watches."  

 

The parade will step off at the corner of Wellington and Pine Grove and travel its odyssey through the neighborhood, concluding seven blocks away on the front lawn of St. Joseph Hospital (2900 N. Lake Shore Drive). Along with candy and other treats for the marchers, entertainment at the hospital will include the acrobatic feats of the Jesse White Tumblers.

School Day Parking Signs

In light of the longer school days at Chicago Public Schools city-wide, the following changes will be made to the No Parking School Day signs in the 44th Ward.

Inter-American School (851 W. Waveland):  7:00am - 5:00pm
Nettlehorst School (3252 N. Broadway):  7:30am - 5:00pm (Aldine and Broadway only)
Hawthorne School (3319 N. Clifton):  7:00am - 4:30pm
Agassiz School (2851 N. Seminary):  7:00am - 5:00pm

The signs will be changed over before the first day of school on September 4th.  Please plan accordingly.
