Dear Neighbors,

The 19th District has issued a community alert concerning con men posing as City workers which you can read below.  We also have heard from some neighbors there may be men posing as CDOT employees trying to get people out of their homes to talk about speed bumps while another man burglarizes the home.  If you see any suspicious behavior, please make sure to call 911 immediately.

Earlier this month, I was excited to announce that the LGBT-Friendly Affordable Senior Housing project at 3600 N. Halsted will be moving into its second phase.  I have been working hard to bring this proposal to fruition and know this will be an impressive addition to our neighborhood.  To learn more about the project, please click here

Submissions for the 11th Annual Lakefront Sculpture Exhibit have been collected and the jury will convene will to make their decisions in the next week.  We received a record number of applications and have some very beautiful and unique pieces to choose from!  For more information on the exhibit, please click here

Our service office will be closed on Monday, March 5 for Casimir Pulaski Day and will re-open on Tuesday, March 6.  Please note:  All City Offices will be closed for the holiday.

Sincerely,

Alderman Tom Tunney

Grace Period Registration and Early Voting

Grace Period Registration

For citizens who are qualified to vote in the Primary Election but who miss the standard Feb. 21, 2012 voter-registration deadline, there is a safety net.

From February 22 through March 13, you may register to vote, update your address or file your name change during the Grace Period.

Note: During the Grace Period, you must register in person -- and then immediately vote during that same visit. Please bring two forms of identification, at least one of which must show your current address.

Location for Grace Period Registration & Voting

Feb. 22 - March 13, 2012
Chicago Election Board
69 W. Washington St., 6th Floor
Hours:
Mon-Sat: 9 am - 5 pm
Sundays: 9 am - 3 pm

Early Voting

Early Voting for the March 20, 2012 Primary Election will be offered from February 27 through March 15.  The 44th Ward location is:

Merlo Library (644 W. Belmont Ave): Monday thru Saturday, 9 am-5 pm

Voters registered in the City of Chicago may use any Early Voting site in the city, regardless of where the voters live.  Voters don't need a reason or excuse to use Early Voting -- but voters do need to present government-issued photo identification.

Ballots cast in Early Voting are final. After casting ballots in Early Voting, voters may not return to amend, change or undo a ballot for any reason. It is a felony to vote more than once -- or to attempt to vote more than once -- in the same election.

Three locations (the Board's offices at 69 W. Washington, Welles Park and Mount Greenwood Park) will be open Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and also will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
