The Algiers Development District (ADD), Joint Development Committee (JDC), and Vista Louisiana, LLC, the new Master Developer of Federal City, invites the community to participate in an Integrated Design Workshop, a collaborative effort to bring together all of our talents and energies to discuss ideas and help formulate a master plan for the development of the old Federal City site located in Algiers. The community Workshop will be held at the Federal City Auditorium, 2485 Guadalcanal St. in New Orleans on Wednesday night, May 27 from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. 

Steven Oubre, principal of architect/town planner with ASW a nationally acclaimed firm of architects and town planners has been engaged by Vista Louisiana to master plan the 130 acre Federal City site. Mr. Oubre will address the importance of continuing the "community" fabric of historic Algiers and leveraging those assets by adding viable additional uses that will serve to not only pattern the land plan for Federal City but to introduce viable economic activity that will benefit the whole of the region. 

The ASW team will conduct a series of meetings with various groups for the purpose of hearing your suggestions and ideas. These ideas and suggestions will be processed on a continuing basis by the team for assimilation (to the extent reasonable and permitted by governances) into a master plan that will be submitted to the Algiers Development District for its consideration and ultimate adoption. 

The Federal City site is one of the most notable vacant parcels of land remaining for development along the Mississippi River. Vista Louisiana envisions the site being developed as a traditional neighborhood development (TND) incorporating the same techniques that old Algiers was built around.
