The Louisiana Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has awarded the Federal City Auditorium LEED for New Construction v2009, at the Silver Level. Jeff Arnold, State Representative and Chairman of the Algiers Development District, and Paul Flower, Owner of Woodward Design Build, formally received the honor at the USGBC Louisiana Annual Meeting & Host City Celebration held on Thursday, November 20, 2014. The dinner recognized the 2014 Sustainability Leaders, and all LEED Building Owners in the state. According to USGBC, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a high-performance building tool that addresses best in-class building strategies. LEED certified buildings save water, use less energy every month, provide healthier indoor air quality, connect to the community, and promote the use of recycled local materials. Benefits to LEED Certification include: - Creating jobs through local architects, engineers, and construction professionals
