We'll be closed Tuesday September 20 through Thursday September 22

They are doing work on the roof of our building which means, due to safety concerns while they are on the roof over our shop, we must be closed for three days starting Tuesday, September 20.
Our expectation is we will be open on Monday the 19th and will reopen on Friday the 23rd at 10 as usual! We will still be responding to web orders but our doors will be shut those three days. Keep an eye on our web site and/or our Facebook page and Ravelry page in case of any changes.
We also understand the idea of "Yarn Emergencies" so we will be checking email and voice mail. We're here for you!
We apologize to those of you that were planning to visit us during that time. Thank you so much for your understanding!

Pinedorado Days in Cambria!
Special Hours Saturday Sept 3rd
Noon - 7PM
Every Labor Day weekend is Pinedorado Days here in Cambria! Pinedorado is a large fundraising event put on by the Lions club here in town. It really is fun for all ages.
The festivities kick off on Saturday at 9:30 with a parade down main street that starts right at the shop and goes all the way to the end of the West Village.
The parade is a long tradition and is a lot of 'small town' fun. We think you'll enjoy it as much as we do!
We're also staying open until 7 as part of the Art Walk - and will be featuring some "Wearable Art" - hand knitted pieces from the shop we no longer need as models. Stop by and see what we have, you may be surprised at the prices!
If you get to the car show on Sunday, look for the Ball & Skein award, as well as raffle items from us and other local business all weekend!

Come visit us on Saturday, September 10 for a one-day special SLO Yarn Crawl Open House.
We're excited to announce that we'll be joined by Karin Skacel! Karin runs the Skacel Collection, a manufacturer and distributor of many fabulous yarns as well as the 'gold standard' of needles, Addi! (Further down in this email are details on how to get a free Addi Rocket needle)
You'll get to see the Addi Knitting Machine in action, as well as some felting ideas using a variety of tools and techniques.
You'll also be able to try out the variety of Addi needles they offer, including the new Olivewood needles! As if that weren't enough, we'll have a trunk show featuring some of their latest designs. In other words, a day full of fiber and fun!
It is FREE to attend this fiber filled day, so make your plans to stop by and join in the festivities!

Join us in L.A. for our Sept 17 Trip to Trendsetter!

We're once again heading to Trendsetter in Van Nuys on Saturday, September 17! We went last year and had so much fun that our friends at Trendsetter invited us back for another trip! It's an experience that's hard to beat.
Some of us are also taking the train down on Friday September 16 for dinner with our friends at Trendsetter.
The Main Event: Saturday morning we'll start at 10AM with a Fashion Show and a talk from Barry Klein, founder and head of Trendsetter Yarns, that's sure to inspire you! Then we get the opportunity to shop the 10,000 sq foot warehouse! Yes, we have a lot of yarn from Trendsetter and Lana Grossa in the shop, but even we can't carry it all. So this is your opportunity to see all the yarns they have and get it right away at the warehouse! As before, there will be savings involved, but even better is the opportunity to see the latest yarns and the latest patterns and go home with your next project.... or two.... or three...

Sign ups for Spinzilla start Tomorrow!

If you're a spinner, we're excited to announce we're a
Team Host for Spinzilla this year!
Spinzilla is a fund raiser for the National Needle Art Mentoring Program, which was created to introduce young people into the wonderful world of knit, crochet, spinning, weaving, needlepoint, and all sorts of fiber related crafts! Every dollar raised by Spinzilla goes directly towards funding those efforts.
You don't have to be local to join our team. You don't even have to be a long-time spinner. Novices are more than welcome. It's all about having fun for a good cause!
You don't have to purchase anything from us to be a member of our team or to participate in Spinzilla. So join our team and lets have some fiber fun!

Dahlings!
I hope you are able to enjoy some of the events in September. There's so much going on, I'm sorry I'll miss all the fun. But I am looking forward to seeing you all in October for the Cambria Scarecrow Festival! Cambria is celebrating its 150th birthday this year, so it's sure to be exciting. I've even taken up spinning, so I may do some of that while I'm in town.

Lemons to Lemonade!
We all know that knitting and crochet can be great for stress relief. Not only that, but we can make stress relief squeeze balls from yarn! Our friends at the Craft Yarn Council have created these two fun patterns, one knit and one crochet, and launched a campaign to #StitchAwayStress!
We used Rowan Pure Wool Worsted in
Apple #129 and
Buttercup #132 for our lemons as the price is good and it's machine washable. We'd love to see your color combinations! They work up fast and you can get a lot of them out of one ball of each color.
