Worship for Sunday, March 19
"Give us this day our daily bread." As we approach the center of the Lord's Prayer, Jesus teaches us what to ask from God: nourishment. Is this nourishment we are asking for physical, spiritual, or both? What does it mean to ask for "our daily bread" and not just "my daily bread." Join us as we continue to explore this prayer in worship.

Scriptu res are Exodus 16:3-5, 13-21 and Matthew 6:25-34; 18:1-5 Amy Starr Redwine's sermon is "Daily." Dr. Matthew Garrett is our Lay Worship Leader.   Bulletins are  generally available online by Friday at

And How Are We To Pray?
Exploring Prayer, Sundays through April 2, Beckwith Hall, 11:30 am
Following worship on Sundays through April 2, join us for a discussion about the Lord's Prayer and prayer in general. Through scripture and discussion, we will explore how this prayer Jesus taught the disciples offers us guidance on a life of faith and a life of prayer. We will also experience creative forms of prayer and explore their affect on our experience of prayer. All are welcome to any class during this series!
A New Look in the Sanctuary during Lent
The Session approved a recommendation from the Ministry of Faith Formation to take out the first three pews in the sanctuary to create space that can be used creatively during the season of Lent. You will see the space filled with a communion table, prayer stations, special seating for children, and more. We hope this provides a meaningful opportunity for you to experience worship in a new way.

Meet our Newest Members
At the end of September  we were blessed with twelve new members who joined the Covenant community. We asked each to tell us a bit about themselves.  Over the next few weeks, we will share their pictures and brief biographies so that we might better know one another.

This past Sunday
we celebrated the baptism of Kyree Cuyler, son of Keya Cuyler. Keya became a Covenant member in September. We welcome both of them to the Covenant community!

Thank you to Jim Tomaszewski and Mindy Stewart for these pictures.

In the Covenant Family
We keep in our prayers David Browne, Goiy Burnett (Melanie Marsh Baum's family member), Akeya Clark (Marie Jones' niece), Rich Day (friend of Bill Braun and Cathy Luck), Stephanie Johnson, Timothy Moyer (Jonathan Moyer's brother). We pray for Covenant members and friends who are struggling with illness, convalescing, or are homebound; the patients, family, and staff in our surrounding hospitals; and those who have placed prayer requests in our Carpenter's Box. Prayers for students who are on spring break.
Our prayers are with Christina Cameron Hollyfield, Covenant's Crèche Coordinator, on the death of her father, Mack Cameron, on March 8 in Cleveland.
Jonathan Moyer is away March 23 through March 29. He is playing a concert on Sunday, March 26, with Roy Poper (trumpet) at Union Church, Pocantico Hills, New York, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the installation of 8 stained glass windows by Marc Chagall. Union Church was the parish church of John D. Rockefeller.

Orders for Easter Flowers due Sunday, March 26 .  You may order lilies and flowers to remember or honor loved ones. The names of the donors and those being remembered or honored will be in the Easter bulletin on April 16. Call Mildred Russin at 216.421.0482 to place an order or click here to download a form.

This past Sunday we welcomed Jeanne Jeandheur, her son Jeff Jeandheur,  daughter Carol Jeandheur Reitinger, and granddaughter, Emilie Reitinger. Emilie was in Cleveland for fencing's 2017 NAC (North American Cup).

They are pictured in front of the cross that was commissioned in memory of the Reverend Albert L. Jeandheur, who was pastor of the Church of the Covenant from 1967 to 1988. Reverend Jeandheur died in 2006.

We asked Cathy Miller about the cross. She shared that   "Mr. Holsey Handyside suggested that we needed a cross in the Columbarium. Bert [Campbell] asked me to design a cross for the purpose of memorializing Al to be placed in the South window of the Columbarium. I took the assignment as designer and found Ken Roby of Village Blacksmithing to create it.  Ken and I oversaw the installation along with the stone mason who takes care of our outside stone work and Terry Zuik and his company created the tribute sign beneath it."
Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

An Invitation from the Reverend Charlie Hurst
Stations of the Cross, Stations of the Street
Wednesday, March 29, 7:00 pm
North Church, 4515 Superior Avenue, Cleveland

Dear Friends in Christ,
You are invited to join us at North for a unique Lenten observance: Stations of the Cross, Stations of the Street.  Reflections on the Stations of the Cross, Jesus' steps to Calvary, is a well know part of Lent in Roman Catholic, and other, Christian traditions.  Several artists from the homeless community here in Cleveland, from the Cosgrove Center, from North Church, and other places, have created  a series of art pieces that reflect on how Jesus continues to suffer in our present time, particularly in those living on the street, or oppressed or marginalized in other ways.
We will gather at North Church, 4515 Superior Ave. in Cleveland, on Wednesday, March 29th, at 7:00 pm to reflect on the Stations of the Cross, Stations of the Street.  We would love to have you, who have been such good friends to North over the years, to join us for this Lenten observance.
Charlie Hurst, Pastor, North Presbyterian Church
