Greetings!
Happy Halloween! The leaves are changing, cold weather is blowing in and it's time to set your clocks back (this Saturday!) Change is always happening at DeKalb Medical. Below are several updates on the latest news in the Foundation!

| Playing a Round for Cancer | Annual Golf Tournament Raises over $145,000
The beautiful course at the Capital City Club Brookhaven was the site of the 18th Annual Charles B. Eberhart Memorial Golf Classic. More than $145,000 was raised by more than 80 corporate sponsors. One hundred and thirty golfers enjoyed the sport and the comraderie of the day, despite the cold wind. Proceeds from the tournament will support DeKalb Medical's Cancer Center, which employs an interdisciplinary approach to offer our patients state-of-the-art therapies within a compassionate, individualized treatment plan. | DeKalb Medical President & CEO, John Shelton, keeps warm before the morning flight. | Angel Garden Memorial Service Held to Honor Lost Infants | |
DeKalb Medical recognizes National Infant Loss Awareness Month
For the past seven years, DeKalb Medical has recognized National Perinatal and Infant Loss Awareness Month with an Angel Garden Memorial Service. The Angel Garden, located at Melwood Cemetery in Clarkston, is tended to by auxiliary volunteers, and master gardeners, Bob Briggs and Frank Barrett. This program is designed to allow parents of infants who have passed away to take part in a ceremony to help in the grieving process. When a pre-term infant is born, parents are offered the option to have their infant's ashes scattered in the Angel Garden.
A Garden of Angels Memorial Service was held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 in remembrance of the little angels who have passed away in the last year. Family members were invited to plant a flower in the garden and receive a Precious Angel Baby Memorial Ornament, provided by the DeKalb Medical Auxiliary, to commemorate their loved one.
This year's service was featured in last week's issue of The Champion, a DeKalb County newspaper. Read the full article here (p. 11a).
