WHAT'S COMING UP?
Coastal Promise - Maryland September 2018
|
Forage Center staff are busy preparing for the upcoming Coastal Promise Simulation to be held September 20-23, 2018 in Swanton, MD, USA.
The site is a 2.5 hour drive west of Washington, DC, 3 hours west of Baltimore, 2 hours south of Pittsburgh, and 3.5 hours east of Columbus.
If you know of students or colleagues who might benefit from the experience, please share this information with them. For those flying in, Pittsburgh is the closest airport. We ask that all applicants have a minimum of a bachelor's degree. (If they don't have a bachelor's degree, they can request provisional acceptance.) The fee is $700 for students and $1,000 for working professionals and will include meals and lodging (in-doors, but must bring sleeping bag).
Registration
is now open and closes on September 7.
If you are an alum and interested in role playing please let us know by September 7.

OUR QUESTION FOR YOU!
In every newsletter we ask you to respond to a question about the field and working in it. We promise it will take no more than 2 minutes to answer!
Our question for this newsletter is:
"What kind of content would you like to see in our next newsletter?"
|
And in our last survey we asked:
What do you see as the most pressing challenge you face (or did face) in starting your humanitarian or peacebuilding career?
Responses included:
- getting shortlisted for a job
- hiring agencies only want to see my current career and not interested in other experiences
- location
- finding a long-term job that pays a decent salary
- lack of in-demand foreign language skills
- getting in the door
