Creative Support

Greetings!

This year is unprecedented for us. Despite nearly doubling our size over the past ten years, growing from 19 to 36 guest rooms in the House, we have experienced unparalleled demand in 2012.

So far this year, 163 families have come to us and we had no room. We're running at a 93 percent occupancy rate. Our average stay has climbed from 5.8 days to 6.7 days. In comparison, last year we turned away 28 families, many who came back to stay with us once a room opened up. Thanks to relationships with area hotels, most of the time we are able to find alternative lodging for families we must turn away, but it's not the same as Ronald McDonald House, with costs significantly higher, and amenities far fewer.

These mothers, fathers and children are in crisis. They are far from home and their support system. These families have traveled to Louisville to get their child medical treatment and can't stay with us because we're full.

We're working on fixing this problem but we can't do it alone. We need your support now more than ever to help us reach new audiences. We need your help to share our mission. Engage our Facebook page, share our status, come to a Lunch & Learn. Below you'll find a few more easy, impactful ways to help us spread the word that families with seriously ill children need our support.

Please, pick one of the ways below that you can help and take a moment to make that happen. Your tiny effort could make a big difference in the life of a child.

SECONDARTICLEShare Your Stories and Pictures

Hi RMHCK Moms and Dads!

As we go out into our communities to raise awareness about  RMHCK's very special and absolutely essential mission, we like to share the stories of the families who stay with us. Each of your stories are unique and shed light on why we do what we do and why RMHCK is so important. We are asking for your stories and your permission to share those stories. Please email photos of your family along with a short story about your stay with us at the House or a Ronald McDonald Family Room. Send them here. We would love to hear what made the House/Family Room a home for you and/or what you remember most about your stay. We want to share these with a lot of people, so we ask you to sign a release form. That's located here: RELEASE FORM. If we don't get a release, we can't use your story or images.

Also, for a different project, we'd like to know what would you tell a parent who just found out their child is seriously ill and they have to stay at the House for the first time. Email your advice to this address. And don't forget the RELEASE FORM. We look forward to hearing from you!
