A Message from the President & CEO

I hope everyone is staying warm in this cold snap we're experiencing.  The snow, ice and wind make it difficult to imagine spring so I've included some photos that might jog your memory.

It's hard to imagine wanting to go on a walk now, but I'm sure in 3 months you'll be so glad you signed up for the lupus walk!  Registration is open for all 4 walks and if you register before March 15th, you'll receive an LSI wristband!

7th Annual Southern Suburbs Illinois Lupus Walk (5/16/15)
8th Annual Northern Suburbs Illinois Lupus Walk (5/31/15)
10th Annual Western Suburbs Illinois Lupus Walk (8/8/15)
15th Annual Chicago Lupus Walk - the oldest lupus walk in Illinois! (9/27/15)

Recently, you may have received news about a twilight walk on May 31st.  We want to make sure you understand this walk is not affiliated with the Lupus Society of Illinois but a national organization based in Washington, DC.

The LSI is the ONLY organization in Illinois dedicated to serving the lupus community.  Whether it's educational opportunities, health care professional outreach, support groups or personal assistance, the Lupus Society of Illinois is here to support you.

Since lupus progresses differently in each person living with it, the LSI's efforts are varied to meet the needs.  To illustrate how LSI makes a difference in the lupus community, we've added a new section to the eChronicle.  The "Impact: Lupus" section will highlight a specific situation where LSI provided support to our lupus community.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming educational events and hope you join our walk efforts.  The walks fund our mission related activities throughout the year - your support enables us to continue to provide excellent programs and services at no cost to those in need.

Together we make a difference

Impact: Lupus
Making A Difference

On Saturday, January 24th, Charles Brummell represented the LSI at the Victory Apostolic Church's "Health Fair Explosion, 2015."  Charles presented on lupus and the mission of the LSI.

LSI's mission includes educating the public about lupus and the LSI will send team members, board members or trained volunteers to speaking engagements to achieve that mission.

In a thank you note, Evangelist Jeanette Krueger RN wrote:

"What Mr. Brummell shared helped to enlighten everyone in attendance, because very little is known about Lupus disease process.  Moreover, I do believe for those that are struggling with this disease will now know how to better care for themselves. Thanks."
