Lupus Awareness Month is in full swing!  LSI has provided Lupus Facts of the Day through social media, continued our "I fight for lupus because" campaign, provided educational materials to lupus advocates, found volunteers for health fairs and taken advantage of every opportunity possible to raise awareness of lupus.

I've been on the radio several times the last couple of months - tonight you can hear me on Real Talk, Real People with Chat Daddy on WVON 1690AM at 7:35pm.  You can also hear me talk about lupus on WKKC 89.3FM tomorrow at 9am

LSI has supported organizations like Northwestern University Medical Center and Dr. Rosalind Ramsey Goldman's office who hosted a Twitter Chat to recognize World Lupus Day.

My favorite aspect of any lupus event is always the people.  On Wednesday - World Lupus Day - LSI orchestrated an effort to get the television program Windy City Live to mention lupus awareness on the air.  Wednesday morning my wife and I showed up along with dozens of lupus supporters.  We are so grateful to count on such tremendous support for all lupus activities!

Speaking of lupus activities - the first of the four LSI Lupus Walks is Sunday in the Northern Suburbs.  The Southern Suburbs walk is next Saturday in Olympia Fields.  Both events are already larger than last year's event and we expect big turnouts in support of lupus!

LSI relies on the success of the Illinois Lupus Walks to continue to provide programs and services to the entire lupus community in Illinois.  We couldn't carry out our mission - supporting an LSI sponsored Illinois Lupus Walk is supporting the estimated 65,000 Illinois residents with lupus.

2016 Northern Suburbs Lupus Walk Ambassadors!
Tracy & Kevin Juggan make a difference

This year, the Lupus Society of Illinois (LSI) will host the 9th annual Northern Suburbs Illinois Lupus Walk on May 15th, 2016, with area resident Kevin Juggan and his family as its ambassador. Kevin was diagnosed with lupus two years ago.  Since then his family has committed themselves to supporting the Lupus Society of Illinois (LSI) and the annual Lupus Walks. Tracy Juggan, Kevin's mom, seeks to help others understand that, though her son doesn't look visibly ill, he is very sick on the inside, and to bring to light the private struggle of someone with this type of illness. They also hope to continue to raise awareness and funds for lupus research to contribute to someday finding a cure.
