|It appears as if spring has sprung! Fingers crossed that we have clear skies coming our way!
Lupus Awareness Month starts May 1st and LSI has materials to help you reach your community with lupus information! Be sure to visit our Lupus Awareness Month page to see what's available and how you can make a difference in the fight against lupus!
Our two BIG Lupus Awareness Month activities are the Northern and Southern Suburbs Illinois Lupus Walks. Our Illinois Lupus Walks raise funds to allow LSI to provide programs and services at NO COST to the lupus community - Lupus Walks are also great awareness builders. Every time a participant registers for a walk, sets up a personal fundraising page and sends a link to that page out to their friends and family is an awareness opportunity!
Register for one of the Illinois Lupus Walks today!
The Illinois Lupus Walks have been hosted by LSI since 2001. Don't be confused by other walks hosted by out of state lupus organizations - funds raised through the Illinois Lupus Walks stay right here in Illinois!
Also, don't miss my interview on WGCI airing this Saturday at 7am. You can also listen to my interview with WLIT's Brooke Hunter here. The interview aired on WLIT on April 3, 2016.
I look forward to hearing how you celebrate Lupus Awareness Month. Don't forget to share your efforts with us! Use hashtag #LSILupus Awareness or email firstname.lastname@example.org with details.
Together we make a difference.

The Lupus Society of Illinois is working with Dr. Rosalind Ramsey Goldman and Northwestern University to identify the concerns, needs and interests of African-American lupus patients and their caregivers. We are particularly interested in learning about access to care and support needs in the African-American community. We invite African-American individuals with lupus and African-American caregivers for those with lupus to participate in a small focus group discussion.
For more information and to find out if you are eligible to participate, please contact Mary Dollear at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at (312) 648-6053.
