GREENING MIDTOWN

Our project to plant many new trees in the district this fall is moving ahead full steam. Besides fifty holly trees planted tree plantingin Maple Leaf Park, volunteers are now working to plant at least 60 street trees. Midtown's volunteer coordinator Fernando Guerra and Green Team Forewoman Elise Victoria have coordinated plantings in Mount Vernon and Bolton Hill. Over the next few weekends plantings are scheduled in Charles North and Madison Park. Restoring the Historic Saint Paul Street Park

On Saturday Oct. 30th twenty neighborhood volunteers spent the day rejuvenation the park at Saint Paul Street and Lafayette Avenue. Rotting landscaping timbers were pried up, top-soil was tilled into the beds, litter and dead bushes removed, hundreds of tPark Vol2ulip bulbs planted, shrubs prunes, beds mulched and new landscaping timbers installed.

A scheme of perennial planting has been prepared for next spring. New lighting is soon to be installed. A spring planting day will be scheduled.
