Our first week of school has come and gone and I cannot explain how great it is to have your children back in the halls of Assumption Catholic School!  Often we look forward to holidays, vacations, and breaks, I look forward to the first day of school.

Summer vacation is not a restful time for school administrators.  So much time and effort go into getting the school ready for the upcoming school year.  All of the hard work pays off when the teachers and students arrive in the Fall to fill the halls with laughter and excitement to grow and spread Christ's message of love.

I would like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Felix.  He willingly and competently carried out my vision and completed our upgrades in a timely fashion.  The school is clean, safe, and welcoming thanks to his efforts this summer.

Thank you to the generosity of our donors we were able to make some upgrades to our computer lab and technology infrastructure.  We cleaned, reorganized and painted the main office so that it reflects the welcoming nature of our school.  Several classrooms were moved an re-purposed to create flexible learning environments.  Additionally, the black rubber mulch was removed from both playgrounds and replaced with cleaner natural wood mulch.

I hope that with your help, we can continue to upgrade and improve our physical space, to enhance the academic and spiritual development and success of all of our students.

September fest  Impacts School Days on 9/15 and 9/16
Early  Dismissal Day on Thursday and Full School Field Trip Day on Friday of Next Week
Septemberfest has been a long standing tradition for the Our Lady of the Assumption Church community.  Thousands of people will descend on the Assumption campus to enjoy food, rides, games and so much more.

Due to this massive undertaking the school schedule will be interrupted slightly.   On Thursday, September 15, we will have an 11:15 am early dismissal.  There will be no after school care on this day and it is imperative that all students are picked up promptly at 11:15 am.

Traditionally, Assumption School has taken a day off on the Friday of Spetemberfest.  This has resulted in adding an extra day to the school year. On Friday, September 16,  we will have a full day of school, but all classes K-8 will meet off campus and go on field trips.

Details about the field trips will be sent home this week.  Parents will drop off and pick up their children at Owen Fish Park, one mile north of the school on Stratfield Road.

Please refer to the website at www.assumptionfairfield.org for the most up to date information on events and to see our full year calendar.

Calling all ballers! Boys and girls in grades 3-8 are invited to register to be a part of the basketball tradition at Assumption.

Two coaches are needed to field each team. Coaches must be over 18 and complete the Virtus training course.

Selfies for the Library
Mrs. Meyers Needs Your Help!

Mrs. Meyers, in her new role as Literacy Coach, wants your children to show off their favorite summer reads. With your help, all students are asked to take a selfie with their favorite book and send it to school to be posted on the library bulletin board.

Selfies can be sent directly to Mrs. Meyers at, ameyers@oloaffld.org or printed and brought to school.
