Ohio’s Health Transformation

Today the Ohio Governor’s Office of Health Transformation updated a summary of reforms implemented over the past eight years to improve overall health system performance. Using an innovative approach that involves collaboration among multiple state agency and stakeholder partners, the Kasich Administration focused on strategies to improve health outcomes while holding down costs. Examples of these reforms include:

  • Improving care coordination,
  • Extending coverage to more very low-income Ohioans,
  • Prioritizing home and community based services,
  • Rebuilding community behavioral health system capacity,
  • Enhancing community developmental disabilities services,
  • Increasing access to comprehensive primary care,
  • Rewarding value in high-cost episodes of care, and
  • Aligning population health planning and priorities.
