News from the Bishop's Office
Help those affected by the earthquake in Nepal
Episcopal Relief & Development is working with the ecumenical ACT Alliance in Nepal and local partners in northern India and southwest China regarding urgent needs and assessment efforts following the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck near Kathmandu on the morning of April 25.
The death toll reported late April 27 exceeds 5,000, including 17 who died in an avalanche on Mt. Everest, with the number expected to rise over the coming days. Due to the rough terrain and isolated nature of communities in Nepal and across the Himalayas, search and rescue efforts are being carried out on foot and by helicopter. Communications are still down across wide areas of the region, further hampering assessment and rescue efforts.
"The mountain communities that we suspect are in most need of help are also the hardest to get to, accessible only by foot under normal circumstances," said Nagulan Nesiah, Episcopal Relief & Development's Senior Program Officer for Disaster Response and Risk Reduction. "Getting assessment teams there to gather information will be a challenge, as will transporting the relief supplies that are needed so urgently."

"Year of Resilience" Progress and Update
The Diocese has launched our new program called the Year of Resilience. The goal is to help every congregation develop a Resilience & Preparedness Plan. It began with introductory webinars today and on April 15 to help congregational leaders get started with their own resilience planning.
If you weren't able to attend one of the webinars and would find it useful, let us know: this is an ongoing effort. We can schedule additional webinars if there's sufficient demand.
Hill Grimmett, our Disaster Recovery Coordinator, is available for individual consultation as your congregation begins to engage with planning for increased resilience and preparedness. Contact Hill Grimmett, Disaster Recovery Coordinator.

New Cathedral Ridge website debuts
After weeks of development, the new and vastly improved Cathedral Ridge website has gone live. Check it out at
The website is a collaboration between the Rev. Canon Ken
Malcolm, Canon for Faith Formation and Leadership Development and the member of Bishop O'Neill's staff with primary responsibility for making Cathedral Ridge a success, and Azoogma, a Colorado-based consulting firm specializing in content, design, translation and localization.
The new website offers up-to-date program listings, an easy-to-navigate interface for individuals or groups seeking to book space at Cathedral Ridge, frequent social media updates, and everything potential guests need to know to plan an enjoyable event.
"We really had outgrown our old website, and needed something more reflective of the quality of experience people can expect at Cathedral Ridge," Malcolm said.
The unveiling of the new website comes just two weeks after the addition of Lara Beckwith to the bishop's staff. She's been appointed as Malcolm's executive assistant, and as such will be involved in summer programming and development at Cathedral Ridge.
"All the pieces are falling into place to make this coming summer the best ever at Cathedral Ridge," Malcolm says.
Registration is now open for Cathedral
Ridge summer programs
The Center at Cathedral Ridge is now accepting applications for its summer programs. Options are available for both children and teens. Please visit the

Calling potential camp counselors, camp nurses
As the summer quickly approaches, ,we are preparing for summer camp and need some fun camp counselors for Explore camp. Counselors must be 16 or older and be able to attend counselor training on June 14, with camp starting Monday the 15th. This is a great oppertunity for teens to start building their resumes and attend camp for free! Apply online.
