Jubilee Day
Saint Joseph Villa - April 2, 2016

A spirit of joy and thanksgiving filled the Chapel at Saint Joseph Villa on Saturday, April 2, 2016, as 15 Sisters of Saint Joseph celebrated Jubilee Day by sharing in a Mass concelebrated by Reverend
Monsignor Joseph Garvin and Reverend Martin Moran.

Celebrating 75 Years: Sisters Leona Tucker and Rose Albertine Weaver.

Celebrating 70 Years: Sisters Margaret Burns, Jane Day, Saint Gervase Glackin, Maria Teresa Griffin, Ruth Eisenhauer and Anne McVeigh.

Celebrating 60 Years: Sisters Eileen M. Haggerty, Estelle Marker, Gertrude Melus, Anna Mary O’Mara, Anna May O’Neill and Marie Rudegeair.

Celebrating 50 Years: Sister Grace Christi Costello.

Congregational President, Sister Anne Myers SSJ, welcomed sisters, family and friends. “How beautiful that we celebrate our Jubilarians within this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy. Pope Francis said, ‘Let us be renewed by God’s mercy, let us be loved by Jesus … let us enable the power of his love to transform our lives, too; and let us become agents of this mercy.’ Today we rejoice that our Sister Jubilarians have been renewed personally by the mercy of God. They have opened themselves to be loved by Jesus over a lifetime and enabled the power of His love to transform their consecrated lives.”

Following the Eucharistic Celebration the Jubilarians and their families and friends moved to the dining room and continued the celebration with a delicious dinner.

We offer our gratitude, congratulations and prayers to each of our Jubilarians, for their lives of faithful service to God and the dear neighbor.

Development Office Update
by Sister Kathleen Pales SSJ
Director of Development

We are blessed to have a dedicated team working in this ministry of Development. We do many different things to raise money through charitable giving to support the congregation in fulfilling our mission. Every day we make phone calls and write letters thanking people who have sent donations. We prepare appeals, plan and carry out special events, write grant proposals and answer donors’ questions about our ministries and projects.

Since we put out a request on SSJ Announce asking sisters to send names and contact information about possible new donors, we have received 151 new names to add to our data base. Our goal is to add 500 new names to our data base this year, so we are well on our way! This is so very important for our Development Program.  It is wonderful to know that 151 new people will now receive One With Magazine and be invited to participate in our mission through their philanthropic giving.

We also add the names of people who participate in our Golf Tournaments, Women’s Wellness Weekends and other events. With these additional friends, and with the new names of our sisters’ relatives, co-workers, friends and neighbors, we will be able to meet our goal and continue to have  a successful Development Program.
