Women's Wellness Weekend
Cape May, New Jersey
June 3-5, 2016

by Kathleen Pales SSJ, Director of Development

Saint Mary by-the-Sea Retreat House in Cape May, New Jersey, was the site of the Ninth Annual Women’s Wellness Weekend, held from June 3-5, and sponsored by the Sisters of Saint Joseph Office of Development. Thirty-three participants kicked off the weekend on Friday evening with a delicious dinner and an opening social.

On Saturday, Sister Trudy Ahern SSJ presented the keynote address entitled, Fully Alive in God, setting the stage for two days of enriching workshops designed to enhance wellness of mind, body and spirit.  Workshop topics ranged from Mystics and Me to Proven Anti-Aging Strategies. On Saturday evening, after the celebration of Mass and dinner, participants were treated to line dancing lessons at the Denim and Diamonds Social.

On Sunday, everyone attended one last workshop, followed by Brunch and a closing session.

It’s was wonderful to see these women taking time to tend to their own needs for physical, spiritual and mental renewal in this beautiful setting. Many of the participants first get to know who the Sisters of Saint Joseph are when they come to this weekend, and soon find out about our mission and ministries. I love seeing so many people being united with God and one another as this weekend unfolds.

Women’s Wellness Weekend will be offered again September 9-11, 2016.

“Our vision and efforts in living community should always extend beyond ourselves to all of God’s people. Personally and corporately, we give witness to our congregation by the love we have for one another and by our spirit of joyful service and welcoming hospitality.”
