Education Updates, Dog Training, Student Achievements and more at October Breakfast

Education was the theme at this month's South Lake Chamber of Commerce Breakfast, held Friday, October 20. The program included a presentation by Event Sponsor, Pat the Dog, LLC on the history of Pat the Dog and how owner, Pat Caracciolo, got involved in the Chamber. The Keynote Speaker, Diane Kornegay, Lake County Schools Superintendent, gave an education update on new projects and district initiatives. East Ridge High School Culinary students served breakfast this month.

The second $1,000 scholarship, as part of the new Foundations for Education program, was awarded to Aisha Greene, a student of Montverde Academy . The new program is in partnership with Community Foundation of South Lake, and this month's award was sponsored by CEMEX .

Door prizes including 12 Taste of South Lake tickets, Sponsored by Computer Business Consultants, were handed out to any first responsders, military or teachers in the room. Other door prizes from Computer Business Consultants and South Lake Tablet were given out to several lucky winners.

The next Chamber Breakfast will be on Friday, November 17 and will feature a keynote presentation by Sheriff Peyton Grinnell.
