100 Years of Broadway
"The best tribute to the music of Broadway with first-class performers straight from the Broadway stage. It blew my audience away. They never expected to actually hear the Broadway performers sing the songs they performed on Broadway," Bill Mandicott, executive director, Frostburg State PAC.

  Hello Bears!

Welcome to UPIKENEWS, the official newsletter of the University of Pikeville Alumni Association.

The fall semester has flown by! Students, faculty, and staff are heading full steam toward the end of the semester. This month's edition contains information and stories about the upcoming fundraising concert benefiting our 737 Service, Neil Berg's 100 years of Broadway; our starting point guard on the Men's basketball team; an update from the MBA program; ground breaking for the Scholar House; and an announcement from Governor Steve Beshear about the Institute for Parent Leadership.

As valued alumni, we want to hear about you and include your stories in upcoming issues of the newsletter. Please send us your stories and pictures and help us celebrate our UPIKE alumni. If you have been away from campus for too long, check out the "Save the Date" section of the newsletter for upcoming events.

On behalf of the Alumni Association and the University of Pikeville community, Go Bears!

Student Spotlight
Chris Johnson by Rodney Dantes

Chris JohnsonChris Johnson is a sensational senior transfer point guard eager to leave his print on the UPIKE nation. He believes God makes everything happen for a reason and sent him to Pikeville to leave his mark.

The 5'10, 177 pound point guard transferred from Saint Francis University and is a business major with an emphasis in accounting. Johnson averaged 10 points per game and led the NEC conference in assists, with nine, last year.

"We expect to win the national tournament this season. I would consider the season a failure if we do not reach our goal," Johnson said.
