Emerald Ash Tree Site Restoration & Tree Replacement Information ash_tree

Restoration and tree replacement is taking place as part of  the Emerald Ash Borer Mitigation Program, which will take a number of weeks to complete. Please note that the following will take place: (1) site restorations from the removed Green Ash trees, (2) parkway staking noting the location of the new tree, (3) selection of the replacement species, (4) J.U.L.I.E. locates (underground utility marking) (5) following the tree being planted, mulch will be placed in a ring around the tree, and (6) following the mulch, a gator bag will be set around the base tree.

Where possible, a parkway tree that has been removed will be replaced.  There will be locations that do not allow for replanting due to underground utilities and/or overhead power lines. Scott Sramek at the Public Works Department can be contacted at (630) 719-4753 with questions regarding this. The program goal is to replace close to 100 percent of the trees that were removed.

Residents Urged to Support No Reduction in Local Funds

Governor Rauner's budget address in February included a 50% reduction in the revenue Woodridge receives from the state income tax, or the Local Government Distributive Fund (LGDF). This funding provides for proactive policing, the ability to address capital projects such as maintaining water and sewer systems, and maintaining the quality of our roads. Income tax dollars should be returned to the communities that provide local services to the individuals that pay them. Please take a moment to visit www.protectmytown.com and send a letter to the Governor and your state legislators expressing your support for no reduction in LGDF. Those interested in learning more can watch a short video here.
