Howdy Neighbors!

It has been a busy new year so far at the HHPNC! At last week’s board meeting, we approved an expanded budget, thanks to an increase from city hall! Most of the new money will go to fund Neighborhood Purpose Grants. On that note, we passed a handful of grants at the last meeting, providing funds to AMP, a new space where at risk youth can learn how to make movies and other cool skills, Avenue 50 Studios, funding a grant writing workshop for local artists, among others.

I am so excited about what the board has accomplished so far. Everyone on the board is doing a great job delivering on our commitments to make Highland Park a better place to work, live, study, and thrive.

Coming up we have some very important events to share with you. Be sure you have February 16th AND February 23rd in your calendars for our Council District 1 Candidate Forums and Information Sessions. One will be live in conjunction with other area neighborhood councils, and the other will be a Facebook Live Streaming event. Read on to learn more details about this and everything else going on in your community in the coming days.

Peace,
Harvey Slater
