Dear Parents and Students,
I hope everyone had a great first week! I know it's hectic and overwhelming at the start--especially for our new ninth graders. I hope mixed in with some first-week nerves was a feeling of fun, excitement, and accomplishment. It certainly looked that way to me as I moved around the building.
Orientation 2015 went well, despite our being rained out of a trip to the Highline with Ninth Graders and Seniors. Thanks to Sr. Virginia, Ms. Vargas, and our Anne's Leaders for all the preparation that goes into this day. Thanks, also, to Ms. Walters for the wonderful spoken word activity.
Our focus on
diversity
this year reminds us to appreciate, cherish, and preserve one of our school's most important attributes. In a time in New York City when schools are more segregated than ever, Notre Dame is blessed to attract, enroll, and retain a beautifully diverse mix of students. They come from many different neighborhoods, ethnic groups, races, faith traditions, and walks of life. They speak over 50 different languages at home. What a privilege to have them all together
Chez Nous! I hope every student takes this opportunity to befriend a classmate she might not have met at any other school.
A great weekend to all--with time to finish any lingering summer assignments, collect any needed school supplies, and savor the last days of summer.
My best,
Jackie Brilliant
Principal
