Modified Schedule Reminder

All schools will be operating on an early dismissal schedule on Friday, January 12, 2018 for teacher in-service.

BTSD will be closed  on
Monday, January 15, 2018 for
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Day

During his lifetime, Dr. King sought to forge common ground on which people from all walks of life could join together as equals to address important community issues.  Service, he realized, was the great equalizer.  As he once said, "Everybody can be great, because everyone can serve."

In recognition of that spirit, Congress in 1994 passed the King Holiday and Service Act.  Since then, the Corporation for National and Community Service, in collaboration with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, has taken the lead in helping transform the King Holiday into a day of service to meet community needs.

Below is a list of some of the ways in which you can engage in service activities to honor Martin Luther King Jr. on the federal holiday.
  • Volunteer at the local Food Pantry
  • Read to the elderly (hospitals, assisted living facilities, Masonic Homes for the elderly)
  • Create and send care packages to veterans, active soldiers, and wounded soldiers
  • Contact local parks and recreation offices to ask about park clean-up

Friends of Blackrun Preserve - Evesham Twp., NJ

Martin Luther King Day of Service 2018 is one of the Friends of the Black Run Preserve's largest events. Each year, several hundred members of the community choose to "make it a day on, not a day off" by volunteering at the preserve on this national day of service. This is an opportunity for Friends of the Black Run Preserve volunteers and supporters to transform Dr. King's life and teachings into community action.

Around the country, people come together to deepen their commitment and connection to those in our community who are too often at its margins. Each year, our volunteers spend months preparing for these projects, doing outreach to other organizations, collecting donations and building lasting partnerships within their local communities.

Registration for the 2018 Day of Service events is now open! We will be improving the sustainability of the Black Run Trails in various areas of the preserve.

BTPD...a New Look

The Burlington Township School District is fortunate to have two Burlington Township Police officers assigned to our schools. School Resource Officers (SROs) are specially trained to carry out their police duties while working within the school environment.  Because the SROs are highly visible in our schools, we want to communicate a change in the Burlington Township Police Department uniform.  After thoughtful consideration, the Police
Department will offer protective vests, that are worn outside of the uniform, to all of their officers.  You may see our SROs  wearing these new external vests. Above, is a photo of  Officer Hazzard and to the right, Officer Ortiz wearing their new vests. The new protective vests provide more comfort while also providing more practical, health and safety benefits to the officers.  We would like to thank the Burlington Township Police Department for protecting and serving our community.
