Dear OLG Families,
In this second week of school I have the privilege of seeing each of your children moving into gear, getting into the groove. Carpool runs a little more smoothly, we've worked-out some kinks with Pizza Friday, class lines are moving through the school with greater ease... we are at full-steam ahead! Just because we're in motion doesn't mean there aren't speedbumps or turbulence that slow us down. As I mentioned last week at K-5 curriculum night and will again tonight, "
Growing in the Light of Christ" isn't always easy; we do have occasional
growing pains. Hopefully our weekly newsletter helps ease some of those bumps.
This newsletter you'll find info on school pictures (
online ordering link) that will take place
next Wednesday. Also next week is the start of
MAPs testing. Your homeroom teachers will be letting you know the testing dates for their classes. And our Fall Extra-curricular class signup info is below in this newsletter! So much getting going!
Finally, I hope as many as possible can come to Mass this weekend, as you have an opportunity to lend your voice to the direction of our community. Fr. Jack is retiring at the end of the school year, and we want to make sure his replacement has a clear voice of what it means to be part of the Guadalupe Community! This weekend at all Masses there will be an opportunity to lend your voice (Catholic and Non-Catholic alike) through a short survey. For those who can't make it to mass, there will be an online option available soon.
Middle School parents, checkout some links below specific for you! I look forward to seeing you
tonight at our Curriculum Night!

Faith Formation Registration and Open House Sunday, September 16th 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Parents/guardians and their children (K-8) gather to learn more about their faith, pray together, play together, and interact with other families. Families whose children attend OLG School are encouraged to participate to enrich and strengthen their faith as a family. Sessions take place generally on the first Sunday of the month (October- June) from 9:30-10:45 am in the Walmesley Center followed by a family Mass at 11:00 am in the church.
Confirmation Information Meeting, Tuesday, September 18th 6:30-7:30 PM in the Pastoral Center. Next year, the Archdiocese is moving the age of confirmation to 7th grade. In preparation of that change, all high school students and adults who have not been confirmed are invited to come. Parents/guardians of youth are also welcome to attend the Information Meeting with their child. Sessions will take place on Tuesday evenings, 6:30-8:00 PM with adults and youth alternating weeks in addition to two day retreats. Find the full schedule on our
parish website. For more information, please contact
Helen Oesterle 206-935-0358, Ext 108.
