Jones Named First 
Entrepreneur In Residence at Bowie BIC

Successful serial entrepreneur and business strategist Q.C Jones will serve as the first Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) for Bowie BIC technology clients, through a grant from Maryland TEDCO.  Mr. Jones will work one-on-one with several clients to help them tackle specific challenges in product development and market strategy.  Mr. Jones has specific scale-up expertise in cyber security, health IT software and data analytics.

Bowie BIC is part of a team that is piloting a new program called CORPRENECT, which is designed to connect innovators and entrepreneurs with major Maryland corporations and streamline the R&D process for technology products and services.  Northrop Grumman will participate in the first CORPRENECT pilot beginning in spring 2018.  Bowie BIC's other partners are the Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (Mtech), Inncuvate Consulting LLC, the Prince George's Community College Center for Entrepreneurial Development and Training and the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.  CORPRENECT is funded by a grant from Maryland TEDCO.  For more information about CORPRENECT, visit http://corprenect.umd.edu

MWBC Celebrates Four Years of Counseling County Entrepreneurs  at Bowie BIC  

The Maryland Women's Business Center (WBC) and Angie Duncanson (left), their Senior Program Manager/Counselor for Prince George's County, are marking four years of business support for County business women this month.  Angie launched the MWBC Prince George's County office at Bowie BIC in January 2014. Over the next four years, she counseled a total of 516 Prince George's County women-owned  businesses, eighty-two of which were located in Bowie. MWBC is a program of Rockville Economic Development, Inc. (REDI).

 Innovate Prince George's County

Bowie BIC Board Chairman and CEO of Inncuvate Consulting Mark Lawrence (far left) and Bowie BIC Director Lisa Smith (Center) participated in a panel discussion which was part of the launch event for Innovate Prince George's County on January 20 in Greenbelt, MD.  Innovate Prince George's County is a platform to unite innovators and entrepreneurs in Prince George's County.  The event sparked the discussion, connections and implementation of new ideas to build the County's innovation-driven economy and community of the future. The half-day forum was coordinated by the Prince George's County Social Innovation Fund (PGCSIF).

In February, Bowie BIC begins  hosting a series of FREE Legal Business Clinic each month with Jerry D. Miller (right), business practice attorney with the Joseph Greenwald Laake law firm in Greenbelt, Maryland. 

Jerry Miller has helped clients large and small tackle the legal and operational challenges they face as they grow.  One-on-one appointments with Jerry are free but you must make an appointment.
