Celebrating 9 Years...
This week marks Berkshire Organics' 9th year in business! It's been an amazing journey and we are so thankful to still be doing this. When we started this business out of our home, we never imagined doing it for close to a decade.
What began as an idea to get local food to local folks grew into a full market and grocery delivery service. Local and organic food needed to be more accessible to those who could not get to a farmer's market or sign up for a farm share (CSA).
Over the years, Berkshire Organics has joined a network of local farmers and food producers who have become an integral part of both our business and our food community. Since opening our doors, we have paid millions of dollars directly to farmers and small, independent businesses within a 50 mile radius. Our continued support of sustainable practices has had a strong effect on the local food economy in the Berkshires, and we couldn’t be prouder. Our commitment to sourcing the best local and organic food for our customers is stronger than ever.
All of us at Berkshire Organics would like to thank our customers, farmers, food producers, and the larger sustainable food community for the roles that you play. We are thrilled to have come this far, and excited to see where else we might go.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with us.

Local, Greenhouse grown tomatoes return this week from Fairview Farm in Whately, MA.
We still have a little while to wait for field-grown tomatoes. These tomatoes are delicious and taste much better than those shipped hundreds or thousands of miles.

FORAGING RESPONSIBLY
Sustainable Eating…Beyond the Farm
I rarely come out from “behind the screen,” generally preferring to keep my focus on the issues that most impact Berkshire Organics and its customers. This week, however, the topic is one that is especially close to my heart…which is why I opted to write in first person.

This looks like it may be the last week for local Rhubarb.
A childhood favorite. Enjoy this with a glass of warm milk before bed, or as dessert with vanilla ice-cream.
