FROM THE DESK OF MS. BRESLER...
Dear Parents,

On behalf of the school community I wish the best for our First Communicants. Two groups of parish children made their First Communion last week and one will make it this week and one next weekend. It is wonderful to see these students partake of the Eucharist at school Masses on Wednesday and I am sure they are more excited to do so with their families on Sunday. Please keep these fledglings of faith in your prayers!

FIDGITS:
Fidgits have their own place and time, however in the classroom may not be the place and during school may not be the time, unless there is a doctor's note explaining that the Fidgit is needed for a medical condition.

We have been seeing an increase of Fidgits in the school. I know this is a fad but it is important to remember that anything that distracts from the learning environment is something that should remain at home or only be played with at recess. Please be aware that if a Fidget is brought to school and is out in the classroom at all, the teacher is able to take it and return it at the end of the school year.

STAFF CHANGES:
We have another sad change to announce. Our cafeteria Manager, Mrs. Lynn Ryan, and one of our cafeteria helpers, Maryanne Jenkins, will be retiring from the kitchen effective at the end of this school year. Their last day with the children will be Friday, May 26th. No replacement for the cafeteria manager has been found as yet.

A NOTE FROM MRS. BANTA

This past weekend was Flying Pig weekend in Cincinnati!  On Saturday, the 10K (6.2 miles), 5K (3.1 miles), and the Kids' Marathon (1 mile) events were all held.   St. Veronica students have participated in the 5K and Kids' Marathon events for the past 3 years.  Our group is always one of the largest!  38 students and 26 adults participated in the 5K event, and Chase Staderman (4th grade) was the fastest in the 10-11 year old age group with a time of 20:41.  He beat out the other 167 kids his age!  The Kids' Marathon is a one mile, untimed race where students must log 25 miles on their own before race day.  We had 48 students and 13 adults participate in this race.  It was a beautiful race day, when rain all day had been predicted.  If you've never joined us for these events, please consider it for next year.  It is a fun way to get kids (and adults!) excited about being active and healthy.

NATURALIZATION CEREMONY

VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED!!

We still need a few more volunteers!  We would need volunteers starting at 8:00 AM and then various times until noon. All volunteers are welcome to stay for the ceremony.  If interested, please contact Mrs. Kathy Bryll in the school office (513) 528-0442.

Another way to help is consider donating items for the reception for the new citizens and their families.  We need these items to be dropped off at the school office by 8:30am on Friday the 12th. Thank you so much for your support.

SPIRIT FAMILY DAY
TUESDAY, MAY 30TH
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Our annual Spirit Family Day is quickly approaching and we will need LOTS of volunteers for the big day!

This is such a fun day for the students and we can only make this possible with the help of parent volunteers.

Summer Music Classes
Mr. Gardner will be holding his Summer Music Classes throughout the summer months. Students in 1
st through 8th grade can find a class that is suited just for their specific needs. There are multiple programs available in all different types of music classes: including band, choir, musical theatre, and backstage tech! We even have a new Junior Choir this summer for younger students in 1st through 4th grades. Summer Music Classes have always been a big hit with the students and are a nice, relaxed way to learn music in ways that we can't do in a typical classroom setting throughout the year.
Click here to look through the flyer of classes and learn more information. Registration forms are due back to Mr. Gardner on Friday, May 19.

Dear Parents,
If your child has medication in the health room, that medication must be picked up by the last day of school.  If you are unable to do this, please call the health aide and make special arrangements.  Medications, which are not picked up will be disposed.  No medication will be sent home with students.
If you think your child may need medication next year, please request a copy of our Medication Release Form to take to your doctor before the beginning of next school year.

To Parents of Incoming 7th Grade Students :
Seventh grade students are now required, by the State of Ohio, to have a booster of the Tdap Vaccine and the 1st dose of Meningococcal Vaccine.  St. Veronica School will need a record showing that your child has received these vaccines.  Please ask your child's doctor to provide a copy of this record to St. Veronica School.  They may fax a copy to our school office @ 513-528-0513.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Burns, RN, School Nurse
Mrs. Hudson, Health Aide

ST. VERONICA SUMMER FESTIVAL
JUNE 23 - 25, 2017

BUY AND BID 2017

St. Veronica Families,

My name is Jennifer Tumser, my husband Chris and I have been helping with the St. Veronica Festival for many years now. The past 3 years we have worked hard to rebuild the Festival Bid and Buy program. This year we have some exciting changes coming. We are bringing back sports memorabilia to bid on, we have exciting Gatlinburg and Disney packages, and more. As most of you know, the Festival Committee in years past has teamed up with the PTO in support of festival baskets by grade level. This year we are changing things up a bit. We are excited to be collaborating with Qtego, an online bidding company. This will give all families a chance to bid on items via festival, online, or mobile app bidding, and finally we will be able to take all major credit cards, which is a huge plus! You also do not have to be present to bid on items. Feel free to bid from the comforts of your home and phone, but we would love to see all of you June 23-25! Instead of baskets, we have shifted to a St. Veronica Amazon wish list. We are asking families to consider donating in a way that is best for you, and here is how you can help:

1. Monetary/Amazon Gift Card Donations: With your donations, the Festival Committee will be able to buy items from our Amazon wish list to be auctioned off. You can do donations as a family, class, grade level, or neighborhood. Donations can be sent into school, attn.: school office. Please mark on envelope "festival silent auction donation."

2. Amazon Wish List Item Donation: Feel free to check out our Amazon wish list! Items can be donated as a family, class, grade level, or neighborhood. All items bought from the wish list will be directly shipped to the St. Veronica Parish Office.

Please be sure to check out the Amazon wish list by the link provided: http://a.co/adjLq5f.  You can also look the wish list up via Amazon at Saint Veronica Festival 2017.  We want to thank all of our St. Veronica families on helping make the festival such a success.  We could not do it without your support!  If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Thank you,
Jennifer Tumser
