Winter/Spring 2017
Ministry friend,

This year has been full of changes at Still Waters.  So many things have happened; expected and unexpected. God has continued to remain faithful to the ministry and we are constantly in awe of how He chooses to use the ministry of Still Waters in the lives of others, locally and all around the world!

May the stories below bless you, encourage you, and strengthen you in your faith walk.

Blessings to you & yours,
The Still Waters Team

  WELCOME...
our newest staff members!

This year, we have added two staff members. Please join us in welcoming them to the the Still Waters family!

Teen/Young Parent Programs Coordinator

Amy Armstrong will serve as our Teen & Young Parent Programs Coordinator. Amy will coordinate and oversee young parenting programs. She is also responsible for planning of meetings and curriculum for these programs.

A Message from Amy...

Hey there! My name is Amy Armstrong and I am the new Teen/Young Parent Programs Coordinator.  I volunteered as a mentor in our Monday night program for 2 years and fell in love with the organization! Shortly after beginning as a mentor, I joined the fundraising committee. In the past, I have worked in the food industry in government and food safety regulations. I have an Animal Science degree from University of Missouri and an MBA from Excelsior College.

I have been married to my husband Billy for 8 years and we have 2 boys. Caleb is in Kindergarten at Kaufman Christian School where I am blessed to serve as the board secretary for our Parent Teacher Fellowship organization. Our youngest, Adam, is in pre-school at Sonshine School. Both boys love being outside, as well as, traveling to other states and countries.

Our family has lived in Crandall for over 3 years. We are members at Central Baptist Church where I lead our Wednesday evening Mission Friends program for pre-school and Kindergarten. When we are not busy volunteering in our amazing school ministry, we enjoy attending our adult Sunday school class and meeting for small group activities with our class. I love seeing our WINGS women's ministry program work so closely with our Monday night programs and look forward to seeing more Kingdom people involved in helping lead our teen and young parents!

Operations Specialist

Brandi Harris will serve as our Operations Specialist. Brandi will complete special projects assigned by the directors as well as maintain/update center operations.

A Message from Brandi...

My name is Brandi Harris and I came on as staff in May 2017. I have been involved with Still Waters since 2013. I volunteered from 2014-2017 and have served as healing class facilitator, CPS liaison, and client advocate. I received my Bachelors of Science in Communication from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2006.

My husband and I have been married for 14 years and have 2 boys. They are 11 and 7. We love spending time as a family and love exploring places we have never been. We enjoy hiking anywhere we go and are especially fond of the Rocky Mountain National Park. We have lived in the country in Kaufman County for over 10 years and we love being outdoors at home as well!

We have been involved in church ministry for many years. My husband served as a deacon in our previous church and I was the Co-Women's Ministry Leader. I have served on the board for a local ministry that outreached to under privileged children, on the campus advisory team for one of our local schools, and now I currently serve as the Vice Chair for our school's Parent Teacher Fellowship Organization.

Onward Christian Worker...

It was an emotional night as we said goodbye to Amy Bledsoe as she stepped down as the Teen/Young Parent Programs Coordinator.

Amy has served with Still Waters since 2008 and has worn many hats. She made a tremendous impact and touched so many lives.

Even though we are sad to see her leave as a staff member, we are excited about the new path God has placed her on. We pray The Lord continues to bless her and her precious family in the days ahead.

Around the Center

There have been some wonderful updates to the center over the last year and we want to share those with you.

Country Bible Church and Kaufman's Church of Christ chose Still Waters as on e of their service projects in the spring.  As a result, we have beautiful signs! One was placed in the front of the building, one was placed in the back of the building to direct clients to the entrance of Still Waters and one was placed a bove every office door!

The signs are absolutely beautiful!!  We are beyond grateful for Country Bible Church and Kaufman's Church of Christ's service and contribution to Still Waters.

We also want to share a picture of the updated i am ENOUGH booth. We have been able to add a few touches that allow Still Waters to stand out in exhibit halls at conferences.

A special shout out of appreciation goes to our sweet friend, D'Uan Berendzen.  She made our table ruffle and keepsake bags for the i am ENOUGH curriculum kits.  They are amazing!!!

D'Uan is extremely talented and we are so thankful she shared her God-given talent with us.
A Dose of Hope

A teen mom finds HOPE...

Meet Codie. Codie is one of our teen moms who crossed our path two years ago when she and her boyfriend found themselves in an unplanned pregnancy.

Someone had told them about our Parenting Classes, so they visited the center to inquire. Both were in high school. Codie was in an accelerated program and her boyfriend was a star football player in school.

They were a sweet couple who were committed to carry their unborn child to term, together. During their visit, Codie's boyfriend openly shared that he was a Christian. Codie confessed she was an Atheist.

Think God had a plan? Indeed, He did!

Since that day, they joined our teen parent programs, Chosen and Ignite. While being part of Chosen, Codie has accomplished many goals and is still going strong.

Here are just a few of her successes:

* Graduated high school
* Gave birth to a healthy, happy baby boy
* Made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ
* Found a church home
* Participates in Bible Studies
* Volunteered with VBS at her church
* Enrolled in college
* Recently became employed
* AND last but not least... Codie was baptized!

We are so proud of her and were beyond blessed to receive the following text from her one day:

"I just wanted to tell y'all that I am getting baptized and we are dedicating Isaac on Sunday.

One thing y'all have taught me over these past couple of years is that God is always there and no matter what, His love is never ending. God has shown me His grace and love for us is so much stronger than our sins and as long as we stay with God, we can get through anything. God always knows what is best and He always has things lined up for us.

Thank y'all so much for all that y'all have done. Our family has changed so much just by me allowing God to come into my heart and let you sweet ladies love on us, just as God does."

We cannot wait to see where The Lord leads Codie next. Wherever or whatever it is, we know that she believes with all of her heart that God has a purpose and plan for her life... and with Christ living within her, she will be able to do all things through Him who strengthens her.
Client Corner

Here are some client updates that we would love to share with you:

Zanna's dream was to become a nurse. She believed she could... and she did! We are so very proud of her.

We are so proud of Amber(Chosen) and Jeff(Ignite) for committing to each other and the Lord in marriage. Jeff was also baptized this past year.  What a mighty work the Lord is doing in their life!

Jeff's Baptism!
