Next Toxics Use Reduction Planner Course Starts August 28, 2017

The Toxics Use Reduction (TUR) Planner course covers all aspects of Toxics Use Reduction Planning, and is a valuable learning experience for anyone interested in reducing material waste, reducing toxics use, and improving operational efficiency in any industry.


Attend if you are:

  • preparing to take the MassDEP TUR Planner Certification Exam
  • intending to become a General Practice TUR Planner
  • intending to become a Limited Practice TUR Planner

Chemical Safety and Climate Change Resilience Trainings

About the trainings:

Through a grant from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), The Massachusetts Office of Technical Assistance (OTA) and seven Regional Planning Agencies (RPAs) are conducting workshops designed to build awareness and educate Local and Regional Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs and REPCs), first responders, businesses and community stakeholders about toxic chemicals in their communities.


This effort will build sustainable and replicable models for incorporating toxics use reduction into emergency preparedness and climate change resiliency planning.

The Central Massachusetts Business Environmental Network (CMBEN) is a network of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) managers and other EHS professionals serving industry in Central Massachusetts. They represent some of the region's largest businesses with years of experience in EHS management. Take advantage of this know how by attending informative sessions. Since 2008, Mark Richey Woodworking has purchased a solvent recycling unit, an ultrasonic spray gun cleaner, a robotic spray line, and prioritized the use of water based coatings to minimize the use and release to the environment of solvents and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Meet Jack Illingworth: OTA Environmental Analyst
Jack Illingworth worked in the chemical manufacturing industry for over 40 years and joined the OTA technical assistance team in 2016. 

He kindly agreed to respond to a few questions so that those who don't know him well can get a better idea of his background and personal interests.
