Austin depends on federal funding for many of the bicycling and walking improvements that we've come to enjoy in our city. That funding is under threat again, and we urge you to take action.
From our friends at BikeTexas:
Developments last week on the federal transportation bill are ominous and threaten to completely eliminate programs that fund trails, walking and bicycling. Right now, the Senate must hold the line in negotiations on the next federal transportation bill, and you are the key to convincing Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison to stand strong for Texas.
Visit BikeTexas for how you can take action.
Please join us for the Bike Austin™ summer Member and Volunteer Happy Hour on Friday June 15th from 5-8p at the People Fund Building (2921 E 17th St, 78702, second floor).
We are celebrating the end of our membership drive and the start of summer with Uncle Billy's Award-Winning Beer, snacks, a raffle and your fellow Bike Austin members and volunteers.
Visit our website for more Happy Hour info, including raffle prizes.
When Bike Austin™ increases its membership, decisionmakers listen to us more closely, and we have more resources to accomplish more for Austin bicycling. Imagine if every new Austin building was required to have shower facilities for bicycling commuters! We can achieve this with your help.

We are very close to our goal to hire a membership director, but we still need you and your friends to join by tomorrow, June 15th. Please join, if you haven't already, and ask your friends (in-person or via phone are best) to join right away online or at 512-773-8775.
A membership director means more members, which means more political and community influence and more capacity to establish more resources for bicycling and more pro-bicycling policy decisions... which means more Austinites enjoying safe, comfortable, and convenient bicycling. That is what an investment in Bike Austin provides.
