The Tempel Lipizzans Monthly Newsletter | www.tempelfarms.com
March 16, 2017
Dear Friends,

Since our last newsletter we have welcomed two more foals to our herd: Adele (Maestoso Legeny x Adelena) and Deja (Maestoso Beja x Djebrin). Deja is out of one of the three mares that we imported last year from Austria. Her lineage can be traced back to very early mare lines in the Lipizzan breed.

We are still expecting five more foals this year so be sure to like our  facebook page to ensure you don't miss any of the cuteness!

Want to see our new foals in person? Come for a VIP Tour or see them during our summer performances. Tickets for our 35th Performance Season are already on sale. If you know you want to come, but you're not sure which day then our Anytime Tickets are a perfect option for you. These tickets are good for any 2017 Performance.

The Art Institute of Chicago Presents...gift

Saints and Heroes: Art of Medieval and Renaissance Europe. Opening on March 20th, 2017, this exhibit will take you back in time to the days of knights in armor. At Tempel Farms, we are particularly excited for the opening of this exhibit because our horses played a very special role in its creation. The Art Institute of Chicago wanted to create a model horse that would accurately represent the type of horse that would have worn this armor. The Lipizzan is the oldest breed of horse in Europe and is the closest fit to what the knights of the Middle Ages would have used for their mounts. Dr. Jonathan Tavares, Associate Curator of Arms & Armor at The Art Institute, and David Graves, the sculptor, visited us last year to measure and photograph a few of our horses so that a replica could be made. The finished product dons armor in the new exhibit.
